A Brief Introduction
Hello, my name is Jaxon and I’m working with Sheamus, a great friend of mine, to create a mega project regarding the band Queen. You may be thinking, well what’s this all about? Well, it’s an 18 episode docuseries that really is targeted to highlight every detail found on the band. I believe there are a lot of great things that hour-long documentaries crop out for length purposes. I get it though, and me and Sheamus are planning to fill in as much information as we can. It’s mostly a fan documentary, but we’re hoping to get as many people involved as possible once the interview stages commence.
Now I’m fully aware that it seems a bit odd and ambitious, but I feel like an 18-episode documentary is enough to grab the attention of many people. There has been talk of splitting this into two seasons, but we don't know yet. If we decide to do so then that will be updated upon in the next update (February I hope). We’re very dedicated to this. A research period commenced on May 23rd, 2020. At that point, we were totally unaware of what the purpose of some bundle of documents about Queen were.
The idea hit me on August 26th when I proposed the idea of turning all the documents into information for a documentary. Sheamus was up for it, and we commenced the project Queenthology. Scripting began immediately after I came up with the idea and we’ve been making great progress since.
What’s The Current Situation?
As of December 29th, we have started scripting the 10th episode. Sheamus and I have been overwhelmed with work lately, and we both took a week-long break on the 10th. As a result, we fell a bit behind in work, as we were scheduled to start scripting the 12th episode of the documentary.
I’ll admit, Sheamus has been pulling most of the workload, mostly due to the fact I’m in a band and we’re currently working on an album due for March, but my band is on break until the 18th, so I’ve been trying my best to help Sheamus, and I hope to let her calm down a bit more from the overwhelming work by helping out more. 2020’s been a rough year for everyone and we hope for the best as 2021 is only beginning this week.
We’ve been working on a full timeline since May and it’s still not even finished! I keep finding more stuff to put on. I’ve done most of the work on the timeline, but Sheamus has done some great work in the later years.
How much are we covering?
Well, we hope to get every event we took to note onto this documentary. The first episode is “Born To Be Kings” an episode covering Queen’s early days from their childhood to meeting John Deacon. The second episode is “It’s Only Just Begun?” an episode covering John’s arrival to the release of Queen. The third episode is “Kings Will Be Crowned” an episode covering the Queen II sessions to Brian’s hepatitis. The fourth episode is “Most Of The Best Things Ain’t Free” an episode covering the Sheer Heart Attack sessions to the end of the Japan tour. The fifth episode is “Listen To The Madman” an episode covering the A Night At The Opera sessions to the Hyde Park gig. The sixth episode is “The Sound Of The Song Parade” an episode covering from the A Day At The Races to the conclusion of the Jubilee Tour.
The seventh episode is “The Record Of The Year” an episode covering the News Of The World sessions to the end of the European tour. The eight episode is “Join Our Dynasty” an episode covering the Jazz sessions to the end of the Japan tour. The ninth episode is “How To Rock N Roll” an episode covering The Game sessions to the end of the South America Bites The Dust tour. The tenth episode is “Messing With The Best” an episode covering the Hot Space sessions to the end of the Hot Space world tour. The eleventh episode is “Those Old Time Stars” covering the band’s break in 1983 to the end of The Works tour in 1985. The twelfth episode is “The Rulers Of You All” an episode covering the A King Of Magic sessions to Knebworth ‘86.
The thirteenth episode is “Never Could Foresee The Future” an episode covering the band’s break and the Barcelona sessions, along with The Great Pretender and more. The fourteenth episode is “A New Life Is Born” an episode covering The Miracle sessions to the release of The Miracle. The fifteen episode is “Rule With Your Heart” an episode covering the Innuendo sessions to the release of Innuendo. The sixteenth episode is “This Is Where We Are Today” an episode covering the last sessions at Montreux to Freddie’s passing. The seventeenth episode is “Forgive Me, I Am Old But Still A Child” an episode covering the Tribute Concert to Queen + Paul Rodgers. The eighteen and final episode is “Thinking Young And Growing Old Is No Sin” an episode covering Queen + Adam Lambert to the current year.
What Are Our Future Plans?
On October 26th, me and Sheamus spent our night working out a schedule, our schedule is day-by-day, but for the sake of unknowingness and not wanting to leak too much, here is a summarized version of what is expected. Do not depend on these though as things can take major changes in two years.
August 2020 - February 2021: Scripting
March 2021: Penultimate Research Period, Adding It To The Script
April 2021: Grammatical corrections and preparations for recording.
May 2021: Recording speech takes for documentary demos.
June - July 2021: Editing demos.
August 2021: Distributing demos, promotion for interviews from fans and potentially more.
September - October 2021: Interview period and post-interview script editing.
November 2021: Speech takes for final documentary draft.
December 2021 - February 2022: Editing.
March 2022: Promotion
April - June 2022: Premiering each episode weekly.
I would like to also ask how I’d be able to get in contact with any members of QPD incase they may or may not be interested.
Anyway, this is all for our update at the moment. We will come back for another in-depth update in about 2 months time!
