When going through the comments section on Youtube and reading in on Queenlive.ca there is the consensus that Freddie nailed the "Gimme me a call" in the first chorus of DSMN in Nagoya 1979. 1:12 www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ky0uydURjTc (Greysynthbootlegs) is what I'm talking about. I personally don't hear it at all. To me it is just Roger filling in, especially when comparing it to the backing vocals of Roger directly after on "Don't stop me now". I really doubt Freddie would ever go for that line in such fashion with his bad vocal shape, potentially damaging his voice even more. The G4's already seemed to hard that night. What do you think, why do people think it's Freddie?

I personally don't hear it at all. It's worth taking into consideration (which I suspect you already have, but still...) that Frederick's timbre was so hoarse that night, judging by that audio. It was definitely Frederick, not Roger, singing that line. To me it is just Roger filling in, especially when comparing it to the backing vocals of Roger directly after on "Don't stop me now". I beg to differ: comparing it to his voice a few seconds later, it's clear to me that Roger just joined in for the title drop. That's also consistent with the second iteration of the chorus (near the end), in which Roger, again, stays quiet while Frederick sings 'just give me a call'. I really doubt Freddie would ever go for that line in such fashion with his bad vocal shape, potentially damaging his voice even more. Besides being a brilliant musician, he was - at that time - a self-indulgent coke-snorting pleasure-seeking hedonist, so taking care of his voice wasn't by any means his top priority. Had it been, they would've cancelled the concert. The G4's already seemed to hard that night. Yeah, but that doesn't exclude the possibility of nailing one note accurately, which he evidently did. What do you think, why do people think it's Freddie? Because it sounds like him, it's got the same timbre, panning, volume and tone as his voice throughout the rest of that performance, it doesn't sound like Roger, John or Brian, it's consistent with the evidence we've got from other renditions of that particular track during that tour. Frederick had a horrible night, but he managed to hit some notes quite accurately, including that one.

It's Freddie. He does the same thing at Sapporo second night.

What do you think, why do people think it's Freddie? Because it is Freddie, that's why. Roger never sang on that line, and it sounds nothing like Roger anyway.

If roger sang it his voice would be far more distant, listen to a part Roger did sing "Call me Mr Fahrenheit, traveling at the speed of light".
The other possibility is that for a brief moment Roger used Freddies voice.
