I've heard a rumour about a box set that could be released later this year. Obviously, it could be complete rubbish, but if it is real, it could possibly be an exciting release! Who knows, it may have a Smile version of Silver Salmon! 🤞

I don't know... technically they could compile some stuff: - 6 original tracks; some outtakes might still exist - Bits and pieces of footage and/or live audio from a gig or two - The few live tracks they played in their "reunion", plus rehearsals and maybe a session - Queen versions of their tracks and their corresponding sessions - Tim and Brian's aMIGO sessions: both "Earth" and "Doin' Alright" have been released in duet and solo versions, plus outtakes and whatnot - Their "Bohemian Rhapsody" sessions that resulted in that "Doin' Alright" amalgamation of new and old stuff from the movie's OST - I think they also considered / recorded "Earth" - "Step On Me" by 1984
- John S. Stuart mentioned a stereo mix of "Blag" a while back - would this mean they keep multitracks? - Brian may (hehe) keep that rumored "White Queen" demo around, plus whatever else that may still exist On top of all that, they could get together again to record / re-record whatever they feel like - they may be bored and can't tour, so... Anyway, whatever's left is most certainly of little musical value, yet highly valuable for any Queen fan. So they're just going to keep it unreleased both for quality/technical reasons and because the few people who could do anything about it would never care in the slightest. If we ever get the 6 tracks remastered again plus any sort of expected extra, that would be Smile's ultimate legacy. |

If there is any truth to this “rumour”, it would at least coincide with the actual real news about the 1970 concert, which, as I said on the other thread, there is really not much point in releasing on its own.

Did they have enough material for a box set? Well "Gettin' Smile" and "Ghost Of A Smile" have the exact same track-listing, so maybe not. I don't know maybe they'll have a couple of tracks from the Marquee reunion and the 2018 version of Doing All Right. |

I always thought that if a 'definitive' Queen box set was ever released, then some of the six Smile songs recorded in those sessions would likely be included. Of course if only some song were included, that would leave the remaining songs in limbo.
TRW is no Liar when he states that "considering it (Doing All Right) was on the biopic soundtrack I'd say he's certainly doing all right." (Sorry, couldn't resist)

So the only product for the anniversary is so far unnamed book, which was told me by a guy who worked on it with GB. And in recent interviews, BM and RT are not concerned about the old days, even in recording with AL (the one news song was penned by a third person as Brian stated and Roger even couldn't remember the name). So what are they doing in lockdown? Probably something which has not to do whith neither old or new music...
