Some great insight and stories here. Covers everything from working with Freddie at the Royal Ballet performance(!), the Brian May Band tours, the SAS band and Q+PR.
Amazing that he was originally auditioning to play bass for Q+PR..
Seems to be a rather splendid chap.
Also.. it strikes me that perhaps Jamie is the only musician to have played live with all four members of Queen.. but never all at the same time? Hmm..

This was a really great interview. Very insightful. I must go lookup more info on the Brian May Band Unplugged session now...

Brilliant interview. Very interesting to hear how his involvement in Q+PR came about, and how he wasn't needed for Q+AL. Personally, I think Tyler Warren should be playing a lot more rhythm guitar and occasional lead vocals for Q+AL, he is far too talented to be wasted on percussion! Thanks for sharing.

This was a really great interview. Very insightful. I must go lookup more info on the Brian May Band Unplugged session now... Info? As in anything worthwhile on top of the actual audio? I love the performance but I never read there was much more to it. The two available semiacoustic performances can be found here.

Great, thank you. For some reason I wasn't aware of this whole performance!

A gentlemen and a great storyteller. He's clearly easy to get along with, and knows how to toe the line as necessary - this is why he's worked for over 40 years.
A thoroughly enjoyable listen.

And also a talented musician, which obviously helps as well.
But, yeah, I agree he was polite and diplomatic: he could've easily spilled some tea regarding his predecessor, for instance, but chose not to. We can use more people like him.

Of course talent helps, but there's no shortage of that - the ratio of great musicians to great musicians who know how to play the game is about 10:1.

His QPR insight is gold. Wish he would talk more about it
Anyone know anything about the guy who played percussion on the vh1 thing? Wasn’t Steve Ferrone..
