Is there another version of life is real live, apart from the hoffman estates version. its one of my fave songs and would love to hear a soundboard version There is also a recording from East Rutherford 4 days prior to that one. It's estimated that they only played the song about 5 times, but only two versions are known to have been recorded.

The 9 Aug 82 version from New Jersey (which is on the Opera Omnia box set) is clearer than the Hoffman one I think.

Wish they played this song live more than they did. It's an underrated track I reckon and maybe suffered because it was on HotSpace.

Mwoh, *some* of the lyrics are cringe-worthy, but overall, I think it's one of the better songs on Hot Space.

Fair enough. How about "I think it's better than any song on Hot Space has a right to be"?

Musically, there's actually a little Dvorak in there. The "I have swallowed the bitter pill, I can taste it, I can taste it, life [is real]"-melody (and the general harmonies for that bit, just not the precise voicings) sounds *very* similar to a passage from an orchestral piece by Dvorak - I'd have to listen through my whole set of Dvorak to find which one it was again, though...I thought it was the cello concerto, but I'm not sure.

Admit it, TQ, you just want an excuse to listen to your Dvorak collection again 😉

I found it strange that they didn’t play it at the MSG. Considering it was a tribute to John Lennon who had lived in the city from late 1971 to his death (as well as play arguably his most famous solo gig in the venue) it would’ve been nice. Sure they hadn’t rehearsed it but would’ve been a nice gesture that would alternate the set a bit more. I personally like the song, it’s not amazing by any means but it’s nice enough.
