Well the 1991 reissues are something unless your a audiophile the reason why you get them is for the extra tracks some are good, some are bad just thought I would talk about them
Queen I - Bonuses are great Liar especially sounds good now. Queen II - Bonus 1 & 2 are good bonus 3 is just meh a good dance remix of SSOR I guess SHA - Great Remix of SCC there are actually two which one you get depends on the pressing. Reznor remix would have been better ANATO - 2 great remixes of YMBF and ILWMC ADATR - TYMD is a fantastic remix whilst the STL is ok but does take away some gospel feel and isn’t that special (I like it tho) NOTW - Trash WWRY Remix Jazz - Great remix of FBG that uses alternate takes and a “version” of Bicycle Race not bad but not queen The Game - Dance version of dragon attack ok I guess still not queen Flash Gordon - Another dance version this time of flash same opinion as the dragon attack remix Hot Space (let’s go) - A great remix of Body Language better than the original imo The Works - B sides and extended remixes no complaints AKOM - Forever and One Vision extended any other extended would be better as all this one does is extend the drum section The Miracle- Scandal “12 I love this song so no complaints still mad this wasn’t on the 2011 remasters

I believe that Queen I & II have the best bonus tracks as they're not just remixes.

Don't forget the packaging. Back in 1991 the foldout booklets were a real step up from the earlier CD inlays.

This has got me playing through some of the Hollywood remasters and listening to the remixes. Some pretty decent tracks, but most are dire. Basically, mimicking the sounds on the early 90's fads in America.
The one thing that has come from this thread through, is now I'm trying to determine the quality of the Hollywood Remasters vs the Universal Remasters to see if any of the Hollywood Remasters sound any better than the 2011's.

I think the same thing will happen with Queen as happened to Bowie. The much derided 80s issues will suddenly become the connoisseurs choice. Closer to the source with minimal screwing about is more appealing than sometimes brutal remasters. If you just like flacs, find rips and adjust the trackmarks to taste, amplify if necessary and away you go.

I never paid much attention to these versions because most of them are kinda lazy remixes with replaced percussion and smaller differences. But, sure: Fat Bottomed GirlsPretty much the only one with actual new content. Excellent discovery back then, only recently made obsolete by the multitrack becoming available. Body LanguageAh, yes... it's "better". Certainly not worse. Scandal (12" mix)Great mix! Understandably it wasn't included in the 2011 remasters, but it'll remain one of the great extended versions. As for the "dance" versions... gotta wonder why those were approved instead of any other conceivable extras. I don't think actual Queen fans would enjoy them than most other possibilities.

I think that's already the case, with the 80s EMI CDs and the early "target" CDs considered to be the best Queen CDs to get. The DCC version of A Night at the Opera is probably the main exception, along with maybe the 2011 remastering of Queen II. Unfortunately, my ears and/or my system are not good enough to hear too much of a difference most of the time with the different masterings, although Freddie sounds like he's singing Save Me while locked in the bathroom on the target CD. I was expecting something amazing with the DCC A Night at the Opera based on glowing reviews, but I didn't really notice anything. Am I the only one?

Am I the only one? like I said unless your and audiophile it doesn’t matter what you get the only thing that’s noticeable to most is volume. From what I read their albums never had the best sound I don’t know, I don’t care. To go on a tangent the target cd of the game is the last one I need I own greatest hits and notw so I need to buy that one I will buy it one.
