Hello everyone. Despite the fact that many of the band's videos from the 70s era are still in the "unreleased" stage, we can safely say that at the moment almost everything is available to us! Of course, not in the best quality, but still the picture today is complete as never before. In addition, various related information is available, such as locations, dates, last names and names of directors, etc. In a word, nothing is a mystery to me anymore when I see something from the 70s. Except for one thing: the video for the song Liar from the tour to the album Sheer Heart Attack was shown on German TV. As far back as I can remember, there was a lot of debate about this at the time of Queenzone, but it was never possible to establish the exact date and venue of the concert where this recording came from. I remember on Queenzone there were versions that it came from the European tour. I wonder why we exclude, for example, an early UK tour or USA tour in '75? I would like to hear your thoughts on this matter...

All I was able to do on my own was to use The Kurgan AKA Victor Kruger method and compare the position of the microphone near the Drum kit, and this helped me a little, but unfortunately not all photos of the concerts of this tour are available to us, so the question remains open

It's extremely unlikely that footage filmed in the US would've been broadcast on German TV circa 1974/75. And considering their deal with Trident, it's hard to imagine a film crew being financed overseas when they were just a theatre band.
But - who knows.

Thanks to such small facts as the presence of a second microphone near the drum kit and the differences in Freddie's buckles/belts during the tour, we narrow the circle around these dates:
31.10.1974 Hanley, UK 01.11.1974 Liverpool, UK 02.11.1974 Leeds, UK 03.11.1974 Coventry, UK 07.11.1974 Newcastle, UK
09.11.1974 Lancaster, UK 10.11.1974 Preston, UK 12.11.1974 Bristol, UK 13.11.1974 Bournemouth, UK 14.11.1974 Southampton, UK 15.11.1974 Swansea, UK 16.11.1974 Birmingham, UK
23.11.1974 Gothenburg, Sweden 02.12.1974 Munich, Germany 07.12.1974 Singen, Germany (Cancelled according to a local newspaper report from Dec 10, 1974)

I don't see the point for a German production group to go to England if it is known that the band will soon come to them on tour! Munich is also the first arrival of the group in Germany!

Does somebody know, when the footage was first uploaded on YT? Or who the collector is?

As far as I remember the full version of Liar posted The Kurgan. His words: "...The FULL broadcast makes NO MENTION of what venue it was filmed at".

As far as I remember the full version of Liar posted The Kurgan. His words: "...The FULL broadcast makes NO MENTION of what venue it was filmed at". There is a comment of Kurgan and another guy discussing about what date and venue was, Kurgan doesn't like the idea that it's from Hamburg For ages there were rumours about an early Queen concert in Hamburg 74. The future makers of "Rockpalast" were there filming the opening act "Lynyrd Skinyrd". "Lynyrd Skynyrd" was broadcast later - but no "Queen". This lead to those "rumours".
Many years ago I talked to the late Peter Rüchel for an interview about the history of the TV series and the famous rock nights. To make the story short: They never filmed "Queen", after "Lynyrd Skynyrd" finished, they immediately removed their stuff and had left the building, before "Queen" entered the stage.
Now you may ask "how could they" or "how stupid they were", but you should understand the times, when that happened. It's common knowledge, that post war Germany was strictly parted into east and west, visible by that horrible border. But also West Germany was "parted" into various sections controlled by the british, american and french governments. There were no boarders, but south Germany and also Berlin was mainly under american control. And north Germany was british. There were soldiers of each country and they had their own radio stations. Young german kids listened to those, cause german radio rarely played beat and pop music. So the people listening to AFN were socialized with american music, the people listening to BFBS grew up with all the british acts (like me...)
The AFN-Kids loved american bands and sometimes could not stand or understand the british ones. And vice versa.
And now have a guess, what radio station young Peter Rüchel was listening too.....
