And today he would have been 100 years old. But in this video he was younger than I am today. Thanks for fishing out this little fragment, dear Dereones, scraps from a longer interview which sadly is in the possession of someone who is reluctant to part with it, so I can’t see it. But this is enough to remind me so clearly of the way my Dad spoke - a sound from a world that is no more, and his body language, and his pride in what we’d made together, even though it led me to abandon his dreams for what I might become. Maybe I should write a book about my Dad - because his gifts to me were many and everlasting.
Happy Birthday Dad. I love you.

I have absolutely no sympathy for Brian ... given the abundance of empty "promises" for archival music.
It would be "The Miracle" if any archival material (other than QAL) will be released in the near future.
I would be surprised if QPL paid for the video scraps that never made it into the finished DoRo product.

The karma thing is fair up to a point.
But this is footage of the man's father. Yes, I'd be critical of the circumstances (contractual) that got him to this point, but we'll probably all end up without parents, so how about a little empathy too...

But this is Brian having a moment remembering his late father. He'd like to see the full interview, in the same way I wish there were more photos, or even footage of my late dad. Not the end of the world for him, maybe, but barely comparable to us lot getting a Queen anthology box set. Seriously. Talk about entitled. |

'cept it isn't, is it? because Doro may be thinking (in their paranoia) that Brian could later decide that he wants to use it as part of some official Red Special "Special", who knows? if they're thinking this, then it's easy to understand their reluctance - unforgivable as it may be. |

This is another of those things where the story is buried somewhere. Did QPL shaft DoRo financially? Renege on a deal? Make a bad deal like seems to be the case with Saul Swimmer? On the surface it seems heartless for DoRo to withhold footage that won't generate any real $ for Brian, but who knows, maybe Brian had a big say in pushing them out of the queen orbit and it's not forgotten.

I'm a bit new to this story. It certainly sounds out of order that Doro are withholding personal footage of Brian's father. Can they legally do this? Why isn't Brian taking legal action?

In my family, it´s happening the same. I´ve got some members of my family long gone and exist footage and recording from them in possesion of other members of my family which we don´t have relationship for years and...It´s ok...
More or less the same case...There is some home video recording of weddings and similar stuff from my family that i won´t get (if it exists now, which i don´t know for sure) and that thing doesn´t ruin my life...
The point is: Sometimes we have to accept that things won´t be as we want.
I suppose Brian is used to get everything due his status (I Want ir all and i want it now...)
Well, here you are a punch of reality. Sometimes life doesn´t happen as we want. You have to accept it.

As far as I understood the problem, the footage isn't in hand of another family member tho. It's basically in the hand of a "stranger". I wouldn't want a non-family member (does that word even exist?) to have and keep to themselves one of the last footage of my late father. I don't know what the motives are, but I'm sure they aren't really comprehensible. |

Let's remember we don't know any of the details, it could be that Brian has seen the full interview in the past, but hasn't been allowed to own it, or was offered it with other Queen related footage but didn't want to Queen stuff....
Although that said I have spent a few days trying to think of reasons other than Rudi / Hannes using it as a bargaining chip and I really can't. If it's as clear cut as it appears it's pretty shitty.
