Some of these replies just make me sad. I mean we all want some new Queen shows of course, why else would we be on this forum? But there's a big difference between a rock concert and some of the last footage of someone's father. 👏👏👏👏👏 |

Brians soapbox today:-
And today he would have been 100 years old. But in this video he was younger than I am today. Thanks for fishing out this little fragment, dear Dereones, scraps from a longer interview which sadly is in the possession of someone who is reluctant to part with it, so I can’t see it. But this is enough to remind me so clearly of the way my Dad spoke - a sound from a world that is no more, and his body language, and his pride in what we’d made together, even though it led me to abandon his dreams for what I might become. Maybe I should write a book about my Dad - because his gifts to me were many and everlasting.
Happy Birthday Dad. I love you.

Everybody who has said that Brian is getting Karma should be deeply ashamed of themselves. This is the only footage of Harold May that I’ve seen, I don’t know whether there is another film of him, but these few seconds and a few photographs are all that we have of Brian’s dad, and Brian wants to be able to see all of this footage so he can be reminded of his dad and the memories he has of him. Shame on all of you. |

Hi, all! I hope you are all fine. I am sorry if I missed something, but isn't it possible that QPL or BM only approached DoRo about a larger set of Queen related footage and that the sentimental value of this particular part of the footage was not brought to the table, at least up to now?
Something like that could possibly explain DoRo's point of view.

I do feel that Brian wanting to access footage of his father can't be equated to us as fans wanting archive material released, so the earlier comments in this thread could certainly be seen as insensitive and misplaced. That said, we all say things we wish we hadn't said, and that doesn't make anyone an inherently despicable person. If any of those who feel they made ill-considered comments would care to offer a redress, I'm sure this would be welcomed and we can move on. |

This thread should remain intact, as the people who have exposed their true character should remain on display. Threads like this should not be deleted, as this place is not and never will be a Pollyanna-like Stepford society.
The world has always been populated by a minority of people with such views, and the internet has given a microphone to thoughts that would have previously remained silent. And the rest of us can judge it by being able to see it, not by removing it from plain sight.

I'm a bit new to this story. It certainly sounds out of order that Doro are withholding personal footage of Brian's father. Can they legally do this? Why isn't Brian taking legal action? If the footage is their property, then they aren't legally obligated to do anything. It is an emotional plea from the good doctor, and it's entirely their choice what they do with it.

- Complaining about the 50th anniversary
- Picking apart minute details of youtube videos to support the above 2 themes
- piling on Brian's desire to see video footage of his deceased father to support the top two themes
- repeat daily
So maybe my queen zone comparison is unfair, sorry for that. It's the 'repeat daily' part in the above summary of my experience that's just making this place as much "fun" as the old board got at the end.

And, we did close the 50th Anniversary thread for that very reason, but then people continued it in the YouTube thread, so we reopened it and merged the threads, partly in order to try to keep all the moaning in one place! The big difference with QZ is that here, there are people who will do that, and we won't allow threads to descend into abuse and personal attacks. |

I don't think Brian would name people, to my knowledge has hasn't done so in the past at any point.
He's more likely to write a song about them, then bodge up the lyrics at a later date by adding an "L" with a completely different pen to hide references to their name in the lyrics.

The only other possible footage he could have is if he still has those old home movies that were shown in his video for Too Much Love Will Kill You, even then I don't think there's any footage of him in the video, but it's still possible the original film had something. |

It’s very possible that Brian’s comment is a very broad one, and he hasn’t even asked the owner of that film (which were presuming is Doro) specifically just for the footage of him and his father for sentimental reasons, but just that at some point QPL has negotiated to buy all the Magic Years and Doro stuff as a bulk package but they haven’t been able to agree terms. It may be that Doro see Brian’s post and happily have over all the rushes of the interview with Brian and his Dad (with or without payment).

Part if the difficulty with "Doro" is likely to be that it no longer exists, and therefore any agreement has to be made between qpl, "Do", and "Ro". This becomes more difficult when "Do" and "Ro" are not speaking...

Are Rudi and Hannes not speaking? Few years ago there was a documentary series by Rudi Dolezal on "Servus TV" (Austrian cable station), where he opened his archive including lots Queen-material. And in this series Dolezal very often underlined, that Rossacher is no longer connected to him.
