Earls Court '77, by Ross Halfin (who just admitted in public that he doesn't like Queen - way to bite the hand that feeds you).[] Well, that hand stopped feeding him a while back, plus I'm sure he's well enough fed by his work with the (still extant) Metallica and Iron Maiden. In any case, not sure why I'd care that his musical tastes are heavier....Mick Rock prob preferred Bowie

Gorgeous shots.
I'll forever refer to this tour as their peak as a live band - everything just fell perfectly into place.

I'll forever refer to this tour as their peak as a live band - everything just fell perfectly into place. Couldn't agree more. Freddie was consistently strong from night to night, the band were hitting their stride, the sets were perfect (and often changed a bit from night to night), and the lighting rig is my personal favourite. This shot from Toronto 77 is forever ingrained in my mind. No doubt Queen had the best lighting rigs.

The setlist was never more varied than during this tour (rockers, softer songs, poppier songs, singalongs etc.). And the band also looked stunning as did the stage. The recording of this Boston 77 show is to kill for. A pity Dan Lampinski was not there with his recorder. We'll never hear the soundboard that's collecting dust in the Brian/Queen archive

Great shots of Freddie at the paino Detroit 11-18-77 I think they are Of the Jazz tour viewing Freddie's outfit. Maybe Detroit'78? Not only are they from 1978, but Fred's suspenders are different in the first and third pics, meaning they are from different nights most likely. From the evidence I've seen, red suspenders were on the second night, whereas the patterned ones were on the first night. And while I'm glad that these have been shared (since I've never seen them), it goes to show that some people here are quite ignorant about what the band wore on each tour, and it should have been fairly obvious that this isn't 11/18/77. For reference, here is a shot of the band on 11-18-77. It's fine if you can't get the dates down exactly, but to not even get the year down evokes the sentiment Bob was expressing a few pages back. Touch up on your Queen history folks!

And to amend a previous date I had gotten seemingly wrong (because yes, I make mistakes too), the Detroit 1978 pics from Getty Images seem to be from November 10th, not the 9th. All of the shots have Freddie in the red suspenders.

Sorry about that, I was just posting what the website listed the pictures are from That's fine, but keep in mind that part of our responsibility on this thread is to accurately date things. Most times, websites wont get those things right.

Stockholm, Sweden, April 12, 1978 Can't be Stockholm. Fred's outfit has the closed chest cut. It must be from an earlier 77 date. Example of what I mean: Notice how the chest part of the outfit is more open in Stockholm.

Ah, I see, I also went on queenlive and examined every 78 concert and it seemed Stockholm was the only concert in 78 that Freddie wore that outfit. The reason why I thought that it had to be Stockholm is because the photo was labeled as "Freddie Mercury 1978". I will do more research on finding the concert the image is from.

Ok, I looked through the 77 shows and found 2 possibilities. #1 which is the more likely the one out of the two is Portland, ME, USA November 11, 1977. On queenlive there is a article by Bravo, which is the name on the photo I posted, so there is a good chance its from that show. The second possibility is Boston, MA, USA November 12, 1977. Examples: Photo I posted Portland November 11, 1977 Boston November 12, 1977

So let's not make definitive statements where we don't have all the information.
