These photos are from a special number of the Japanese magazine 'Music Life' from 1978. They were all taken during a show at Empire Pool in London in May 1978 by Japanese photographer Hiro Ohno; I think they may have been taken during the 13 May 1978 concert (Freddie wears the red and white cuff in all photographs, not worn during the concerts on 11 and 12 May and surely not in the Stafford concerts). I'd say you're right. Fantastic shot of Brian with the EBow and left hand on the tremolo arm, doing his 747 impression off the top of his solo spot.

These are two photos, taken from the same magazine, are from another gig in London I think. Yeah, we recently had this discussion here - Mercury wore the silver lurex outfit on the last night, so these are almost certainly 5/11 or 5/12.

Found this pic on a Japanese website on an article about photographer Koh Hasebe and his book ''Rock The Best''. The caption on the article confirms that this photo was taken by him in Fukuoka in October 1982. I suppose Queen are playing ''Under Pressure'', as Deacon is playing his Fender Precision Special bass. This photo was certainly not taken in Tokorozawa (as I thought at the beginning); in the concert video the band wears different clothes while performing this song. Photo is credited to Koh Hasebe / Shinko Music Archive.

When I first saw the Hot Space tour lighting rig - at Milton Keynes Bowl - I thought it was a step back from Fly Swatters (10 Dec, 1980, Wembley Arena). I suppose it wasn't, but it still feels like it. Anyone care to defend its design? (Reminded by the photo just above this comment.)

The "Kyuden Memorial Gymnasium," where Queen's Fukuoka concerts were held, has a distinctive ceiling,
so it's easy to tell if you're in Fukuoka or somewhere else. Found this pic on a Japanese website on an article about photographer Koh Hasebe and his book ''Rock The Best''. I suppose it wasn't, but it still feels like it. Anyone care to defend its design? (Reminded by the photo just above this comment.) The three blocks of Parcan lamps where very effective, if not as mobile as the 80/81 rig. They were used for the most part to wash the stage in colour. It became a Queen (signature) effect since the Jazz tour, and carried forward as far as The Magic Tour. The use of a specialty developed system to switch out the coloured gels and use the blocks as pure white was effective, if only used at the end of the show. The other really effective device were the 4 mobile spot light units, each with three spot lights. These 12 units used coloured gels which were changed remotely. The optical focus of these lights was designed to provide a range from narrow beam to a wide spread while focusing a standard spot in a relatively short throw, rather than the length of an arena or high above a stage. The Problem with the U.K. out door shows was that half the gig happened in near daylight so the surprise factor in the rigs use was kind of lost as. What was surprising was that a band like Queen who were known for their spectacular use of lights never really embraced the use of Var-lites which at the time was years in advance of the mass use of Parcans which Queen always used and had been in use since the late 60's early 70's.

Freddie playing the mini-koto, probably in his flat, not sure.
I'd say it's a hotel room in Japan. People usually didn't have lamps like that in their houses.
Keep 'em coming - love your bits of commentary on the photos.
One year later, but worth to mention - it was at Nagoya Castle Hotel, 21st April 1975. Someone from Japan translated a magazine with this picture inside, and there was another one:

Great stuff. I'd say they're from the first night - Freddie is wearing the same hat in one of the shots:
And Brian is seen with the Birch copy, and I don't recall him breaking a string on 2/28 or 3/1.
Or they could be from multiple nights - Freddie is seen with the towel around his neck during WWRY like he had on 2/28:
Any chance you or someone could grab the rest of the photos ? I tried in three different browsers and all of the photos are not hyperlinked (at least for me).

Unfortunately, I can't take that wonderful pics. I tried in multiple ways, but nothing.

Munich, 18th December 1980. ''The Game Tour'' Photo by Wolfgang Heilemann. And the concert poster: AC/DC played at the Olympiahalle on 17 December (Brian and Roger attended) and Queen on the next day.

Wow - some of the best audience shots I've ever seen.
I dropped him a line asking for the rest of the high res scans. Hopefully he'll bite - he's a very nice guy.
