How is TGIC streamed so much?
A) it's crap, let's be honest. B) it only gets one month a year of use.

from 1 down to 18 that list couldn't be any more predictable if it tried. the streaming public really do not appear to want to venture out beyond their already vast knowledge of Queen's Greatest Hits....do they? FFS

FFS In 2015-16 I saw the list with Queen most downloaded songs, most viewed in YT, most streaming. All lists were GH. That's why they play the same songs over and over again. I wonder is there any of these GH buyers going to deep cuts songs, or Queen II, SHA, AATR, Innuendo etc

I had actually thought this 50th anniversary year would be a perfect time to release all the videos on blu ray and in the original ratio and accompanied by a cd compilation of all their hits in chronological order, so I would welcome a new compilation if done right.

What amuses me is people who won't buy a non-GH album because they "don't know many of the songs". It's astonishing how blinkered some people are to listening to something they don't already know, but they forget they didn't know any of the GH songs when they first heard them!

FFS In all honesty, I can imagine there being a reasonable number of people who have heard the greatest hits and gone on to check out the deep cuts. Such as myself. But I can agree to this assumption, as the bulk of Queen streams are probably from normies who either want to be retro, have seen the Borhap film and are just diving in, or they see Queen on whatever playlists they're coming across.

I personally think that Christmas songs by any artist, however good they are, should not be included on their greatest hits compilations or regular albums.
Those songs are made to be played at Christmas so I just end up skipping them for the rest of the year. Always happens with any John Lennon greatest hits for example.

Probably the answer is No, however from personal experience, after I bought The Beatles Blue best of, I went into deep with them, buying almost all their LPS. Some frie ds of mine after buying Queen GH, they asked me which albums I suggest. Of course times have changed, the new audience is more on streaming and some of them buying LPs.

I'm in complete agreement with Strange Frontier. I became interested in Queen immediately following Live Aid and bought the greatest hits album. Then I went dormant on Queen for years and years. When I returned to my interest in Queen I did a deep dive on all of the music. I still have a lot to learn and I'm happy about that, but I'm forever grateful that the well known songs are what drew me in to a fantastic journey. Not everyone will go beyond the standards, but they are the ones missing out.

Never did understand why TGIC ended up on GH III.... I never understood the track listing for GH III to begin with. I think it was a mis-step to do the Queen+ and solo route, but that's a whole other conversation!!

TgIC is far from the biggest anomaly on GHIII...
And I'm aware that it's on compilation albums, but enough to beat stuff that's on GH1? If GOFLB is beating it, so should Play The Game, SSoR and even Flash.

I remember that just before the movie was out, they did a Top 20 of streams. This list is already quite different (well the bottom half is anyway) to the one just 2 and a half years ago. Well just because I've got it, the Top 20 best selling singles from the same 2018 article:
