Queen star Brian May's home has been flooded by sewage, destroying many of his belongings. The musician, 73, took to Instagram to detail the disaster on Monday, returning to his West London property from a day at Royal Holloway University. Brian discovered the lower floor of his home was mired in unsavoury-looking black water, and that it had damaged his carpets and rugs as well as his childhood photo albums. Wife Anita Dobson's keepsakes had also been ruined. The guitarist documented this on social media, branding the mess 'disgusting' and 'heartbreaking'. He explained that his photo albums had been at another of his homes, which had recently been under threat of forest fires - yet they have now fallen victim to the flooding. www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-9783087/Brian-heartbroken-angry-sewage-floods-West-London-home.htmlHe has my sympathies. Flooding is one of the worst things that can happen to a home.

Awful to hear. The Philly region was soaked last night in flooding waters, and the news was all about that, showing the overflowing water in basements. Somebody had just refurbed his basement to the tune of $13,000. Thing is, that kind of stuff can be replaced but the sentimental stuff can’t. Use this as a lesson to waterproof your valuables!

Damn, there goes the BTTL Gold Series master and all the pre-Queen material for the anthology that he was planning to tease and never release.
Sorry if you lost anything valuable, sentimental or otherwise Brian.

Sorry if you lost anything valuable, sentimental or otherwise Brian. Fortunately, I think his music 'vault' may be at his home in Surrey, at least from what he said after the Chobham Common fires in August 2020: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-surrey-53728175So, he's had fire and flood, lets hope he avoids pestilence.

Poor Brian. I hope he can recover his photos. As a side note, the archive should be backed up in different locations to avoid fire, floods, vulcans, earthquakes, meteors and interns in general. PS: Delilah is exempt. Cheers, Ogre-

He should be ashamed of all the other work he has done but the “MEOW” is just perfection. If queen ever do a greatest hits 4 it should have Delilah and the 1991 Hollywood Remixes + You Don’t fool me remixes for perfection

That's really sad news - losing things like childhood photo albums must be very painful for Brian. He's rich, so he can easily afford to have his place cleaned and replace stuff which has no emotional value, but no amount of money can fix losing those tangible links with your past and your family.
I don't like Brian's business decisions any more than any of the critics here, but that's an entirely separate matter from this minor personal tragedy, and a little more sympathy wouldn't hurt.

John unleashed some serious wrath on Brian with biblical implications.

Agreed. It can happen to any one of us, regardless of financial status or profession, and nobody deserves to have this happen to them.

Horrible. One of the worst things that can happen I guess, next to a fire outbreak. Hope all will be fine soon for him.

Can the photos be salvaged? It's not just a flood, it's sewage. What a nightmare. I read that someone on Instagram pointed out that there's what appears to be a picture of Roger in the video footage, which looks very similar to the one used in the collage on the back of the debut album:

Sadly, unless he has the negatives stored away somewhere, it’d take a miracle to salvage the photos.

Brian making an over-exaggeration of a common occurrence for anyone that has a basement on the Thames flood-plain.
There's no sign of major depth of water on any of the walls with tidemarks visible, so in comparison to many affected by the recent bad weather, he's got very little to moan about; not that it stops him......... Perhaps, oh miserable curly haired person, don't leave things on the floor or, if you don't like your neighbours; move house.
