On my computer, it says that "the owner of this website has banned your IP address" when I try to go on, with an "Error 1008" at the top. I tried on both Microsoft Edge and Chrome, but the same message appeared. But on my phone, everything is fine. It's been like this for over 20 minutes now. This is probably just a glitch though, since I've seen other people that have had the same "Error 1008" issue.

If you're using your phone via a mobile network, that would be using a different IP, which would explain how you got in on your phone. I've found two different IPs associated with your posts, and neither of them are on our list of banned IPs. I'm not sure if we have a log of ban triggers - maybe BrƎИsꓘi could help with that? Let us know if the problem persists.

I do use Norton VPN. I was going to check if the forum worked without it on/from a separate connection, but turns out I'm able to get on from my computer now. Thanks for helping!

This is not a local action taken here by us, rather it's a global action set taken by Proboards across all of their servers/forums. Their IP Banned List grows with every day. The issue for individual users on individual forums arises almost entirely from VPN use. If a given VPN selects an IP address whose first three elements ***.***.*** matches any banned string then access is denied.
Obviously this doesn't only protect Proboards servers from breaches, but it also protects users from interaction with offending IPs.
For the individual, the guaranteed way to maintain access to proboards servers/forums is to disable any VPN.
The Bottom Line: VPNs are essential to many aspects of modern life, but internet forums are not one of these.

I used VPN once to download a newly released videogame from South Korea - 13 hours early.

Wait, so using a VPN is a bannable offense on proboards??? WTF? Did you guys think about a different host? ProBoards is free hosting. Any other would come at a cost. I don't think using a VPN is an "offence" in itself. I don't know how VPNs work, to be honest, but as I understand it, if your VPN IP happens to fall into a banned IP range, that's when problems arise. This is the first time this has been brought to our attention, so I guess it can't be a particularly regular issue.

And from my limited understanding, most VPNs allow you to choose a region to connect from, so give that a try and see if it fixes the problem.
Disclaimer: I know very little about the internet or how things work in general.

Wait, so using a VPN is a bannable offense on proboards??? WTF? Did you guys think about a different host? not at all. Proboards have a list of banned IPs - verified as having links to spam/malware. Anyone using a VPN needs to be aware of the geographical locations selected. If you let your VPN select these for you, then there's a risk the selected VPN could match a a known banned IP string. To restore Proboards access, simply choose another IP.
