As I'm sure you are all aware of, there are several ways the members of Queen are listed on albums. Some of them are completely random and really irritate me! My favourite two are: - Freddie / Brian / Roger / John (oldest to youngest)
- John / Brian / Freddie / Roger (surnames in alphabetical order)
If I were to pick one, I'd go for J / B / F / R because it looks really professional when it comes to press releases and shows they are all equal in a group not choosing a random order which could look biased and show any egos. If anyone likes the others it would be interesting to know why you do because I can't see any methodical reason why they were ever printed on an album! There just doesn't seem to be an official listing of their names. New releases now seem to vary each time. The Beatles have a well-known order of John / Paul / George / Ringo so why have Queen never done the same?!

I like your reason for J/B/F/R...but the image of seeing this on the back of my first Queen shirt has forever been cemented in my mind as definitive:
Freddie Brian Roger John

I don't think I can vote in this poll. Why? Because when it comes to ordering band Members names, I usually go by songwriting credits. So now any true Queen fan should be able to determine why I can't vote in the poll.

www.ultimatequeen.co.uk/miscellaneous/statistics/singles.htm#Best%20Worldwide%20Singles Queen Chart Performance By A-Side Author This table summarises the chart position of singles, considering the author of the A-side track. The table includes all Queen singles upto and including 'Stormtroopers In Stilettos'. For the average highest chart position, 'Keep Yourself Alive' and 'Say It's Not True' are ignored as they did not chart. For all 'average' statistics, figures are rounded to the nearest whole number. ....................... Roger . Brian Freddie John Top 5's ................ 3 ...... 1 ...... 7 ..... 2 Top 10's .............. 3 ...... 2 .... 10 .... 4
....
Hence ... Freddie, John, Roger, Brian
** Of course my favorable bias for John, and my bias against Brian probably is a more accurate reason for my favorite ordering.

I was going to say: John Freddie Roger Brian Criteria: magnitude of their greatest individual hit. It is unfair to say that Brian is the least successful member as he contributes in many other ways, but context is everything.

Congratulations, OP, a Subject I've never seen come up in 20 years of discussing Queen on the Internet.
There do appear to be some combinations missing from the poll though...
Freddie / the one with the hair / the one from Duran Duran / the other one

The title of the thread and poll is favourite ordering of the band members listed under Queen which doesn't include how the names should be printed - "Deacon John" or "Roger Meddows-Taylor"!

To me in this context "listed" implies a list of things - not a continuous sentence. The ordering on the albums is a new line for each member not a sentence. I'm happy to agree on the fact that "listed" has more than one meanings causing everyone to have a different interpretation!

I'm wondering why an option with Brian's name first wasn't included - without him Queen surely never would have come into existence. Also, as has been previously noted in this thread, he was the only one who kept all of the hair.

That's pretty definitive - Freddie / Brian / Roger / John is the most popular one.
I'm surprised how Freddie / John / Roger / Brian is so popular - is it favouritism?!
