...and to apply a random limitation, no re-using the designs from Queen monopoly.

Is Freddie the Queen or King? John the Bishop, Brian the Knight, Roger the Rook?

Freddie would be the King of the band according to Laura Jackson ("King of Queen")
Roger would be the Queen, as he was the pretty one in the Radio GaGa video, and the "other diva" in the movie.
Doug Bogie would be a Pawn, having only lasted two gigs.
Mike Grose would be a Bishop, as Brian called Mike "a powerful figure with powerful gear".
Barry Mitchell would be a Knight, as he was gracious to appear on Queenzone.
Brian would be the Rook, as his perfectionism cheats us out of box sets.

John would be the Grandmaster, as he was sampled by Grandmaster Flash.
