The Miracle Box Set, this book...When they are release you won´t have enough money for everything... Just think that GH will be re-re-re-re-released again in K7 or Laser Disc or something like that...
QPL is a joke...

there's no doubting that there'll be an innumerable quantity of interesting items pictured within this tome. the only issue for most buyers will be being sure NOT to take as read the captions/labels, as we all know from established history, that (in previous publications from the same origin) accuracy of statements/facts/captions etc has never really been a high point.

I think we're all waiting for the "The Making Of IWIA" book with the thousands of Photoshopped covers/FB banners Greg has posted on Facebook the last couple of years.

I remember when it was supposed to come out in 2004… I think I mentioned that in the first edition of MY book from 2007…!

I remember when it was supposed to come out in 2004… I think I mentioned that in the first edition of MY book from 2007…! Yes ... on page 423.
Also, I find the following quote from page 421 of your 2007 edition to be ironic and still quite applicable today:
"The rumoured anthology box sets have been tentatively slated for a 2009 release, but Queen Productions have made it clear that such a project will signal the end of Queen as a working band; with Brian and Roger's touring schedule these days, it's likely that the antholgies will be pushed back even further."

What a quaint relic! Things were so much simpler back in 2007.

Message from Greg:
Hello friends. Yes, my book is currently due for publication next year. This is GREAT news for Queen fans though, as it gives me an opportunity to squeeze in more recent discoveries that I know you'll all love. So when it comes out it'll be even more up to date!

I suspect that there's not exactly any "updating" can/will be done. still, it'll give him a few more months to consider (and then decide against) deploying the services of a literate proof-reader i'd also suggest that delaying release is not a great move for the archivist: the longer the delay, the more content is added, the greater the potential for even more mistakes. could get so bad it turns into a game of "find the correct description"

Ah, Roadworks. That was one of the first things I remember reading about on Andy’s Queen Page back in 1997 or thereabouts!

i have a question about this book:
which bank account do the proceeds of the book sales credit? QPL's? or Greg's? because the idea that the archivist who was employed (on a decent salary) to catalogue (photograph, label, log) and archive all of this stuff, could actually make more money from releasing (some of this) information (in book form) that he's already been paid well to produce...is morally wrong.
This is (in essence) being paid twice for the self-same piece of work.

Morally wrong? I don´t see it like that I woulnd´t mind to be paid twice for my work...I´d feel OK...(And very happy I´d add...) we'd all like that - haha. but the fact remains: if you've been paid to do a job the results of the work belong to the employer and NOT the employee. he wouldn't attempt to record every piece of audio he's catalogued for QPL and release his own LPs, would he? so what makes images of souvenirs, memorabilia, tour programmes and similar any more his property to make money from? however, there may well be a contractual arrangement in place.

Yes, I'm sure we would all love to be paid twice for our work, but would that be acceptable within general principles of right and wrong? That's the question on morals. One has to assume that GB has QPL's approval to do the book, so whatever financial arrangement has been made would presumably be beneficial to both.

His contract with QPL will specify what he can and cannot do. Inevitably BM will write a foreword to this book, so it will be an approved product, whoever's name it's in.
If QPL make bad contracts (...and DoRo have footage that QPL can't get, and Saul Swimmer was able to leverage Montreal for years, and the original NOTW artwork wasn't secured) then it's not immoral to exploit that.

The book gets more items "squeezed" in. INCREASE the number of pages, don't reduce the size of the photos. I'm happy to pay £100+ if needs be to have a book with 500+ pages of good quality LARGE photos than less money for small photos. Let's face it - it's only fans who will be buying this.
And take out photos of flippin bootleg LPs & CDs.

A complete joke...probably the biggest band in the history of music and treating hardcore fans like sewer rats... i get your point, but: Queen are not/never will be "the biggest band in the history of music" - regardless of what Queen fans think. it's just not something that will ever be up for debate. what is up for discussion is whether Queen are the 2nd, 3rd or 4th biggest band in the history of music. fans treated like sewer rats? i doubt there's many sever rats out there even aware of Queen, let alone waiting for anthology boxsets for 20yrs.

I would love a proper coffee table book, like the FM box set, with an image per page, just really tastefully designed, but I know it’ll end up being a disgraceful mash of images thrown together.
As a former book designer, some of the books that Queen have had officially sanctioned leaves me confused and irritated from the design perspective alone.

Yes - the Thor & Lee's book, “Freddie Mercury in New York: Don’t Stop Us Now!” was released earlier this year, and was discussed briefly in the below topic:
