I was inspired by the "Queen 'Inspired By'" thread and by several people mentioning "The Millionaire Waltz" there. To say that Queen have had a huge influence in the world of music is a truism and I'm not looking for obvious connections here. I thought it might be interesing to find works by less known artists internationally that seem to "borrow" elements of Queen songs. My example comes from Poland. The piece was written by Agnieszka Osiecka (lyrics) and Seweryn Krajewski (music), and recorded by Maryla Rodowicz in 1984. To give you more context, the title means literally "Long live the ball" - with ball ("dance party" rather than "football") symbolizing life - and the lyrics are about life being short so that we should all seize the day while it lasts. The songwriters and the performer were responsible for some of the most popular pop songs in the 1960s-80s in Poland (as well as in the USSR and its satellites). The song itself is still considered by many one of the highlights of Polish popular music.
All of the above does not change the fact that the guitar solo is (to my ear) a rip-off of Brian's solo in "The Millionaire Waltz" (or to put it more mildly, an homage to his guitar style in general).
