Hey guys! So for a few weeks, I've been starting work on a fan-film for my favorite Queen live album, Live Killers, using footage from the tour (and some from the Crazy Tour, as there are some songs that don't have any video in the Jazz Tour). So far, the only things that have been "completed" are the intro, Let Me Entertain You, and Somebody To Love. This is when you guys come in. I've uploaded the intro to YouTube and I want to hear some feedback from you guys about it, what I can improve or change and whatnot. Don't worry, I won't be all defensive and that stuff, I can take criticism. Here it is! (BTW, instead of flooding the YouTube section with updates like these, I'm just going to have them in this one thread, to help keep it from being a mess

It's a good idea, ...but it's much more complicated than you think)
I fell asleep after the first minute, probably because this movie needs a good script

As for a script, I will try to make one, to give the film some direction

OK, since you don't care about continuity etc. I have a few editing ideas - watching a long uninterrupted take of people walking from one part of a corridor to another one while music plays gets boring very quickly. Try intercutting it with other footage, and/or instead of album music use some audio from some interview(s) - just like in all post-2011 documentaries - audio of It's Late - hard cut to audio from rehearsal - hard cut to silence - hard cut to audio from rehearsal - hard cut to the rest of It's Late - this combination makes it very confusing for the human brain to process. - if you want to use background music try to avoid the album versions. Not only is it a risk on youtube, it also creates a weird feeling when the sung lyrics doesn't match the visuals. I recommend some instrumental versions or alternate takes or something like that, or maybe even things like your own piano cover ... - if you want to introduce each band member with an on-screen text, good, but can you put the introductions closer together? - you don't have to show the full interview at once. I think inter-cutting segments of an interview with shots of building the stage (for example) would make it more interesting (in my humble opinion)
Anyway looking forward to the final product.

I can only say that this cannot be the work of one person, pay attention to the credits of any documentary about the group. In my opinion, the whole forum should deal with this, and everyone should have their own obligations. If this happens, it will be the greatest shame for QPL)

That actually sounds like a great idea, getting the whole forum (or at least many people from it) and having them all work together to make this. That would lead to a much better end-product

Hey guys! So I bet a few of you have seen the little thread I made in the YouTube threads, about a potential 'Live Killers film'. Some have even given me some advice to help out this little project (which I thank them for), but one thing that really stood out was from a person who said 'Maybe this would be better as a Forum project?' Which is why I'm making this new thread, for some hope that at least a few people would like to contribute to this project (in ways other than criticism), so if you'd like to be part of this, please tell me what you want to do and show me some of your other stuff, just to make sure you're fit for it Thanks in advance for any new helpers! (Working on the film by myself would've taken eons and it still probably wouldn't be that good)

Just a suggestion, but try to pay attention to the audio levels. It jumps from very loud music to very quiet talking.

I can help (if you want) with title cards and other things involving some art to do (Also I'm Drums from YT). I actually started on script which Fif botched with his editing.

I was thinking of a more Live Killers-like font for the texts.

Guys! Start with the script please!) First of all, I want to clarify, is this about the Jazz Tour or about the Live Killers album?

God damn. That teaser looks great. Can't hardly wait for the finished product. This is another fine example of why this Queen chat group is the best there is. And since Queen Productions won't give us anything worthwhile we have to do it ourselves right?

I made the first 2 songs using a lot of 1978-1979 material. Nicely done ! There are a few bits out of sync, but overall this still a wonderful watch, entailing much effort.
In fact, it really hammers home how much great video we've managed to have access to. When I first heard the Live Killers album, the idea of seeing any footage from that tour was inconceivable to me, until bits of it popped up in documentaries and bad quality VHS tapes started showing up at record shows and in my mailbox. And now we've got well over a dozen videos from that tour, mostly in great quality. What a trip it's been to get to this point.

I made a poster for the film. It's a bit incomplete because I need few opinions before proceeding to finish it. (Partly inspired by an original design made by Velizar few weeks back) youtu.be/ZoJB1k516Iw

Well, I haven't made any updates to this in about a month. I would make up an elaborate excuse (like my computer got hacked or it broke), but I'll just be straight to the point with this. I bit off more than I can chew, and I have realized that this was a bit TOO ambitious for me. Plus, it doesn't help that I just got bored editing the video and that jazz.
Very sorry for anyone who was excited or wanted to contribute to this in any way, but, for now at least, the project is shut down. I may decide to restart or continue sometime down the line, but right now, I don't see it happening.
Thank you to anyone who contributed to this project in any way, I'm very sorry to say this, but I think it would be better for me to give some closure, rather than just pretend it never happened or have it fade away in the corners of this forum.

What's special about this tour?) All I know is that these recordings became the basis of the band's first live album. But in the context of other tours, I don't find anything outstanding here. Can you tell me at least one documentary where this tour was discussed?) My opinion is:
1) To create this product, you need at least fresh stories from Brian and Roger 2) It can be a concert film format in the spirit of ''Live In Budapest'' 3) This may be a story about Jazz, in which a small block dedicated to Live Killers will find a place
