Over on the Discord, many other people (such as littlequeenie97 and beyondthemoon ) and I have discovered many things about three certain tour legs: the North American "Hot Space" tour, the Japanese "Hot Space" tour, and the Japanese "Jazz" tour. This thread is for the Japanese "Jazz" tour from April 13 to May 6, 1979. To see all of the photos we currently have, check out this doc. [April 13, 1979] Tokyo, Japan; Nippon BudokanFreddie has longer hair on the first two shows of the tour, and the first show has Freddie wearing blue suspenders and gloss pants. At the start, the jacket he wears is the skylines jacket. During this tour, Freddie wore two pairs of pants, one that was glossy and one that wasn't. His jacket was also either the skylines or emblems one. John has a red tie over a black shirt and takes the tie off midway through the concert. Roger has a white shirt, black vest, and a black tie. Roger starts off with blue/white/blue wristbands, but changes to white/blue/white wristbands. Brian has his regular black shirt with white vest outfit on. This is the only show on the tour where Freddie does not ride on Superman at the end of the show. Pictures: [April 14, 1979] Tokyo, Japan; Nippon Budokan
Freddie has the star suspenders here and wears the emblems jacket and the normal pants. John has a red tie again and takes it off midway through the show again. Roger starts off the show with a black shirt, but soon changes to a white shirt with a black tie. He wore white/blue/white wristbands. Brian has the same outfit as before. At the end of the show, Freddie wears his silver lurex suit. Pictures: [April 19, 1979] Osaka, Japan; Festival Hall
Between the April 14 show and this one, Freddie got a haircut. He has the emblems jacket and wears the blue suspenders with the normal pants. John has the same thing with his tie. Roger has a white shirt with a black tie and wears white/blue/white wristbands. Brian has the same outfit. At the end, Freddie keeps his regular outfit when he is on Superman. [April 20, 1979] Osaka, Japan; Festival HallFor the second night in Osaka, Freddie wears the emblems jacket. With the gloss pants, this is the first appearance of the rainbow suspenders. John has a green tie here, but like the previous shows, he takes it off partway through. Roger has a black shirt with a yellow tie, with white/red/white wristbands. Brian wears his NOTW tour jacket tonight. Freddie also wears his silver lurex suit. One thing I would like to mention is how we were able to properly identify these Osaka dates with one particular shot that is definitely during Teo Torriatte (see the first picture below). With this, we were able to say that these photos indeed came from April 20 as it was the first performance of Teo Torriatte. Pictures: [April 21, 1979] Kanazawa, Japan; Jissen Rinri Kinenkan
So far, there are currently no Kanazawa photos. [April 23, 1979] Tokyo, Japan; Nippon Budokan
There are a few pics from this show, so we only know a few details. Freddie has the rainbow suspenders with the normal pants, and it's unknown what jacket he wears. John has the red tie and probably takes it off, although there is no proof. Roger has a black shirt with a silver tie and has pink wristbands. It's unknown what Brian wears. Pictures: [April 24, 1979] Tokyo, Japan; Nippon Budokan
Freddie has the rainbow suspenders with the normal pants, but the jacket he wears is unknown. We don't know what tie John wears, but he takes it off. Roger has a black shirt and silver tie, with blue/white/blue wristbands. Freddie wears his silver lurex suit. From the footage, we also know that Brian wears his NOTW jacket. [April 25, 1979] Tokyo, Japan; Nippon BudokanEven though we already know the outfits from the footage, might as well say it here. Freddie has the emblems jacket, and has the blue suspenders with the normal pants. John wears a short sleeve shirt, so no tie action tonight. Roger has the black shirt with the silver tie, and once again has pink wristbands. Brian has the NOTW jacket. At the end, Freddie has the red lurex suit. Pictures: [April 27, 1979] Kobe, Japan; Kobe Chuo Taiikukan
There are no Kobe pics. [April 28, 1979] Nagoya, Japan; Nagoya Kokusai Tenjijo
One Nagoya photo is available, and it unfortunately cannot give us any information on what the band wore. Picture: [April 30, 1979] Fukuoka, Japan; Fukuoka-shi Kyuden Kinen Taiikukan
This is the same situation as the Nagoya 1979 show. The only thing we know is that Freddie is wearing the normal pants. Picture: [May 1, 1979] Fukuoka, Japan; Fukuoka-shi Kyuden Kinen Taiikukan
Freddie has the skylines jacket with the normal pants, but it's unknown what suspenders he has. John has the short sleeve shirt again. It's unknown what Roger wears, but Brian has the NOTW jacket with a black shirt underneath. Pictures: [May 2, 1979] Yamaguchi, Japan; Yamaguchi Kenritsu Taiikukan
Freddie has the emblems jacket with the normal pants and rainbow suspenders. John's tie color is unknown, but he takes it off. We don't know what Roger wears. Brian has his black shirt and white vest outfit again. At the end, Freddie has his silver lurex suit. Pictures: [May 5, 1979] Sapporo, Japan; Makomanai Indoor Stadium
The one detail we have of the band's outfits from this concert is that Freddie has the normal pants. Pictures: [May 6, 1979] Sapporo, Japan; Makomanai Indoor Stadium
To end this thread off, we have one photo of this show. Freddie has the rainbow suspenders and has the gloss pants, but it's not known what jacket he wore. John has the short sleeve shirt. It's unknown what Brian and Roger wore. Picture:

While I wasn't really involved in this tour, I've been part of the NA HS discovery thing and let me tell you, it takes a lot of time, nerves and luck to find the right stuff and make the right connections

Absolutely fantastic! Thanks to everyone involved. For the last 4 years I've been trying to collect all photos related to Queen working in the studio, which I plan to share when I feel ready, and I know it might be a time-consuming hobby.

There should be definitely be a dedicated sticky thread for that.

Nothing really new, but thanks to the amazing nr1980 for sharing a scan of the April 20 Teo Torriatte pic. It's also a more complete version!

NEW FINDING:Gotta give another thank you to nr1980 for finding these Yamaguchi pics. From these, we're able to see that Roger's outfit for tonight appears to be a dark/gray shirt with a black vest. Freddie also has a paper fan in the top right pic, which may have been thrown onstage by an audience member.

NEW DISCOVERY (VERY IMPORTANT):Many, many images from Queen's Japan tours have been found and uploaded into a massive folder (can be seen here, I am warning you there are A LOT of photos in this folder). littlequeenie97 and I have done lots of investigating these photos, some supposed "4/14" photos from TV reports, and the photos we already have. I'll explain these soon, but we can now say that: 1. Freddie didn't wear the silver lurex at 4/14. 2. Roger had a white shirt + vest at 4/14, then took the vest off. 3. Koh Hasebe attended 4/21 Kanazawa, but likely arrived at the venue very late. 4. Although unconfirmed, quite a few Kanazawa photos exist. 5. Freddie trimmed his hair after Kanazawa. 6. Koh Hasebe actually took more than 4 photos at 4/23. (I know right? Very surprising) There was lots of investigating that was done to reach this conclusion, so I'll try my best to sum it all up here. Luixpa had originally suggested that these encore pics may actually be from 4/14 as the angle matches the angle of other 4/14 photos. This idea made more sense with this 4/14 set. A while ago, we weren't sure where to place that cap + tie picture, as we had previously thought that Freddie wore his silver lurex at the show. This photo from the new Drive folder seemed to be from the same show as well, as Freddie also has star suspenders. All of this seemed to mean that Freddie didn't wear the silver lurex that night. These old 4/14 silver lurex shots can't be from 4/20 or 4/24 since a WATC pic shows Brian in a different outfit, plus John doesn't have his red cap. In order to solve this issue, we'll have to first solve Roger's continuity issue in 4/14. In my old post, I had said that Roger went from a black shirt to a white shirt. This was clearly wrong as there were black shirt shots during moments of the show where Roger had already changed to white. There were even 4/14 shots where Roger had a vest! Something was wrong with our labeling. 'Wearing a vest, then taking it off' made a lot more sense than 'wearing black, then changing to white', so maybe the pics with a black shirt were wrong. These actually came from a TV report (2 reports now, as another with more pics was recently discovered). Obviously some of the pics had to come from 4/14. John had two different red ties ( sparkly and normal), and he stopped wearing the sparkly one after 4/14. There was no show where the band's outfits matched these mystery TV report photos. So perhaps this was a different photographer. Could it perhaps be Kanazawa? Freddie's hair in these pictures does look a little longer than his 4/2x Budokan cut, and there is a noticeable difference in length between 4/20 and 4/23. Hmmm... Does it make sense? Well if Roger has a black shirt in Kanazawa, it solves Roger's continuity problem in 4/14. The TV reports probably only contain 2 shows, so if the silver lurex shots aren't from 4/14, then they should be from Kanazawa. It does also make sense for Freddie to cut his hair again after Kanazawa as it explains the shorter hair later. What about Hasebe's silver lurex shots of Freddie on Superman? According to what I have just told you, it should be Kanazawa. But why only of the encore? My theory is that Hasebe arrived to the venue very late, only able to capture photos from the encores. And now, onto the most surprising new discovery we've made. #6. Koh Hasebe actually took a lot more than 4 photos at 4/23, thanks to the new Drive folder. Check out the document to see all of the current photos we have as of now. A few unconfirmed Kanazawa photos:
