"Flick Of The Wrist" was released as a double A-side with "Killer Queen". If "Killer Queen" became a hit, that is not the case for "Flick Of The Wrist". However why this failure: is it the lack of promotion, the lyrics? Some sources say "Flick Of The Wrist" is a B-Side, others say A-Side. Is "Flick Of The Wrist" a forgotten hit ?

I think that while it was advertised as a double a side, radio only played Killer Queen, so that was the 'hit' song.

The truth is Queen weren't that well known enough then for a double A side to fly, so the more commercial 'Killer Queen' was picked up by mainstream radio. Fast forward 4 years for their next double A side FBG / BR and you have a different story with each song being rinsed all over the radio.

Some sources say "Flick Of The Wrist" is a B-Side, others say A-Side. Actually, 'KQ/FOTW' only was an official double-A-Side in the UK, in all other countries FOTW was degraded to simply being the B-side. In the UK it officially was a double-A-side, but in practice FOTW was degraded to a B-side as well there.

Brian half-sourly mentions this in the Rainbow show, before they play FOTW, stating 'This is the side you haven't been hearing on The Tony Blackburn Show'. They played it from the SHA tour up until the Hyde Park show, and it always seemed to get a good response, so they really did try to get it to some acclaim, but it's never really left the the fans' 'inner circle', which is a shame.

^^ Yes that is a shame; it's one of my favourite Freddie Mercury songs. I love that it's included on the entire show on the Live at The Rainbow '74 DVD.

Queen had several singles that were claimed to be double A but actually weren't as the B-side was clearly marked on the record - KQ/FOTW, BR/FBG, WATC/WWRY.
I think the only actual AA side was BR/TATDOOL.
