Hi everybody,
I want to share with you an article taken from the Italian press. This one was published on the Italian newspaper La Stampa on Wednesday July 2nd, 1986.
Originally titled Queen, concerto a Zurigo (translated as Queen, concert in Zurich), the article spoke about the forthcoming gig at Hallenstadion in Zurich, also giving some information on Queen's tour and on the next stages of their European journey. Between the mid-1970s and mid-1980s, Switzerland (especially Zurich) was a rather popular destination for Italian people for rock concerts: many agencies in fact organized bus trips to attend the concerts. In 1979, for example, many Italian fans of Queen residing in the north of the country went to the concert at the Hallenstadion on February 4th. Same thing happened in 1980 and 1982.
About the aforementioned article, it's curious how the concerts in Leiden (11, 12 and 19 June) were not mentioned at all; another interesting fact (now widely known to Queen fans) are the concerts still to be held:
- Queen's itinerary shown here didn't yet include the Newcastle and Manchester gigs of July 9th and July 16th and the first Wembley concert (July 11th);
- the Budapest concert was still scheduled for July 25th (later moved to July 27th);
- the July 30th Frejus' gig was still scheduled for Cannes on July 29th.
Even the Spanish dates are still different from those later made by the band:
- the concert in Barcelona is still scheduled for August 31st (at the Plaza de Toros Monumental and not at the Mini Estadi). The concert was later postoponed to August 1st;
- the article reports that two concerts in Madrid have been scheduled for August 2nd and August 4th (the second one at the Estadio Municipal was in fact planned for Marbella). The two gigs were moved on August 3rd and 5th 1986.
Here's the translation from Italian to English.

The appointment tonight - then Spain and Hungary
Queen, concert in Zurich
After Sweden, France, Belgium and Germany, the great Queen caravan has arrived in Switzerland. The group will hold their second concert tonight at the Hallenstadion, then continue to Ireland, England, Austria, Hungary and Spain.
Queen's tour, which will not hit Italy, started immediately after the release of the new album after two years of silence: 'A Kind Of Magic', which includes the soundtrack of Russell Mulcahy's film 'Highlander' with Sean Connery and Christophe Lambert (in Italy it will arrive in October, in France in the first four days of programming it has exceeded four billion in receipts).
The group performs on a 50 meter wide stage, larger than that of the Rolling Stones. The lighting system was designed by the Clare brothers and is the largest ever built.
The next concerts are: the 5th in Dublin (Slane Castle), the 12th at Wembley Stadium in London, wit the partecipation of Status Quo, Alarm and the new group of Jason Bonham, the son of John Bonham of Led Zeppelin. Then Queen will be in Cologne on the 19th, Vienna (Stadhalle) the 21st and the 22nd, in Budapest on the 25th, in Cannes on the 29th, in Barcelona (Bullring Monumental) on the 31st, the 2nd and the 4th in Madrid (Rayo Vallecano Stadium and Estadio Municipal).
