Hi everybody.
This article, titled Roger Taylor. Una batteria in tournée (translated as Roger Taylor. Drums on tour), was published in the January 3rd, 1995 issue of the Italian newspaper La Stampa. The short article, published on page 50, presents Roger's upcoming tour, obviously listing the dates scheduled for Italy. However, the gigs of Palermo, Catania and Naples (scheduled for the end of January 1995) are not yet announced. Information on the drummer's latest album and on the musicians who have collaborated on it are also provided; however, the release date is incorrectly indicated as June 1994 (the album was actually released in September 1994).
Here's the translation:
From Monfalcone
Roger Taylor
Drums on tour
MONFALCONE - Two appointments in the Triveneto area for the Italian tour of Roger Taylor, the drummer of Queen, for some time "recycled" as a solo singer. The tour will start right from Triveneto, on January 16, from the Hyppodrome disco in Monfalcone, to arrive the next day in Schio, in the province of Vicenza, and to subsequently touch four major cities, Genoa, Cesena, Rome and Florence. In addition to writing some of Queen's greatest hits, Taylor has expanded his business to production, solo composition, live performances. His latest album "Happiness?" was released last June preceded by the single "Nazis 1994" which refers to the theme of the spread of neo-Nazism in Europe. Despite a certain amount of political denunciation, for Taylor "Happiness?" it is above all an album dedicated to those who want to face life and seek happiness in it. «I am struck by the fact», the singer said in a recent interview, «that whatever we do, we are all looking for a state of happiness or peace of mind». Before embarking on life as a solo singer and after the years of success with Queen, Roger Taylor founded a band in London, The Cross, born thanks to a series of anonymous announcements in the local press and subsequent auditions. To record "Happiness?", Roger Taylor used the collaboration of great musicians such as Jason Falloon on guitar, Phil Spalding on bass and Mike Crossley on keyboards. Taylor has also worked with Yoshiki, a famous Japanese drummer as well as one of the most popular pianist and composer.
