hi everyone, remaining neutral without political judgments I wonder what is the reason why Live in Ukraine 2008 is not re-released (even if material is added) in order to help Ukrainian refugees with the proceeds. They are not the only ones to suffer because even Russian civilians are paying the consequences, but being a live recorded in the nation itself would be useful, right? I believe that my question has no political implications but it is just my curiosity. I don't think that publication has much market now, so why don't they see it as a smart and at the same time humanitarian move. well, what I had to express I said, if someone can enlighten me on their choices I will be happy. best regards and good life

My first guess would be that I don’t believe Brian and Roger look back too fondly on that period. Also there’s not much of a market for that release – there wasn’t much of one in 2009 – so whatever meager sales it would get would be better served by donating directly to charities for that very reason.

I understand how it wouldn't be too profitable to re-release it on discs and stuff. But I never understood why at least it (and, to a lesser extent, Super Live in Japan) aren't on Spotify and other music streaming platforms. Both ROTC and The Cosmos Rocks are there. Japan is way superior than ROTC, and Ukraine 2008 is the only live release from the Cosmos tour. I guess both would make sense, Ukraine even more.

Spotify has both albums I mentioned above from QPR plus QAL's Live Around The World all under Queen's discography (and also under Paul's/Adam's discographies too).

I understand, but I don't think it has to do with not looking at that period willingly; thanks to Queen + PR they returned to live and release an album. during that period they released 3 live shows on cd and dvd and an album. it occurred to me that they prefer to stay on the side because the Russian market has given good feedback in the past (even with the musical). mine are conjectures but it is still an interesting topic. 👋🏼

If they were to do anything at all I would think that releasing a Q+AL concert from Ukraine would be more likely than the Q+PR release, but apart from supportive messages online I just don’t see Brian or Roger doing anything significant. And that’s perfectly alright! They don’t NEED to release anything; I’m sure they’re doing their own things in their own way.

Return of the Champions and the Reaching Out/TYMD single are on Apple Music, but not Cosmos Rocks, which is very odd. (And it’s a shame because I’ve been going through a real appreciation for that album, I’ve been listening to it a lot lately and have changed my mind considerably on it.) EDIT: I wonder if it's because I'm in the US, and maybe there's distribution rights issues or something for Hollywood Records? Not sure what it could be, but not a lot of people seem to miss it – myself excluded!

Weird. I’ve been listening to a lot of Queen+ Paul a lot lately too. I do have an appreciation for The Cosmos Rocks and think it’s a good album (I guess I’m in the minority too).
I’m in Canada and just checked Apple Music and the album appears here under Queen + Paul Rodgers. No Live in Ukraine tho.

Here’s what I see: It doesn’t matter to me, really; I have the album on multiple formats, so it’s all good. Just strange that it’s not streaming on one platform in the US. Or maybe just Philadelphia!

If they do release something from Ukraine for Ukraine, the odds would be better for the Q+AL touring debut (Kyiv 2012). I sure do hope they don't, though. Even though it was professionally filmed and had an interesting setlist, back in the day Adam's singing style wasn't still a great match for Queen. Considering how much he's changed from then, I suppose even he agrees, so I assume they won't be too interested in releasing anything earlier than the bits they've released on Live Around The World.

Details are out now: Queen + Paul Rodgers: Live In Ukraine 2008 YouTube Special - Raising funds for Ukraine Relief
In support of Ukraine, Queen is returning to its historic Kharkiv concert with a YouTube special screening aimed at raising funds for Ukraine Relief. Special YouTube Premiere Screening - Saturday, March 19th at 10AM PST / 1PM EST / 5PM GMT @ youtu.be/PGCTQTZXGXsIn September 2008 Queen + Paul Rodgers answered a call from Ukraine’s Olena Pinchuk AntiAids Foundation to reach out to the youth of the country with the message “Don’t Let AIDS Ruin Your Life” by playing a free Life Must Go On Aids awareness concert performed in Ukraine’s second-largest city Kharkiv’s historic Freedom Square to a live audience of over 350,000 – and a television audience of more than 10 million. The band recalls that event as “an unforgettable experience…one of those rare things in life you know you will never forget. A meeting in music, but also a coming together to fight a common enemy…” Today, with millions of Ukrainian refugees in need of urgent humanitarian relief from a different affliction, Queen is returning to that historic moment with a YouTube special screening aimed at drawing donations for UNHCR relief efforts. “Queen + Paul Rodgers Live In Ukraine” plays on YouTube - Saturday, March 19th at 10AM PST / 1PM EST / 5PM GMT - youtu.be/PGCTQTZXGXsPlease make your donations to UNHCR - The UN Refugee Agency. www.queenonline.com

I wonder how much Lplix knew… 😉 I’m very happy for this action, opening our hearts to those in need of help is the best gift we can give to ourselves. ... however, even opening the wallet is very welcome to those who find themselves in similar situations. Good life to everyone

Man, Paul Rodgers is such a great singer - he perfectly rides the balance between the original and making the melodies his own. It's theirs, and it's his.

Just a shame he was still reading lyrics from an autocue after 3/4 solid years of singing the same songs…. Personally I’ve seen both Adam and Paul fronting the band, and Adam is far superior. That’s just my preference, I don’t wanna start a Paul v Adam debate 🤣

While it was a noble gesture (and actually raised quite some money) watching the show made me just re-realise that I really don't care too much about the QPR era apart from the acoustic sets (that '39 was AMAZING in that extended arrangement!). I don't like how Paul spoke through a lot of songs and basically came up with a new melody on every single line

I don't like how Paul spoke through a lot of songs and basically came up with a new melody on every single line Hmmm, I'm going to have to check that again. All these PR-less bits are surely worth it. It's funny how there was a time when I listened to everything Queen/related and knew all the tracks and versions extensively, and then Paul Rodgers came along and suddenly I couldn't be bothered. I must have listened to "Cosmos Rocks" like... twice, and I hated it because of him. Hybrid mixes of "Cosmos Rocks" with Roger vocals from "Fun On Earth" were recently posted here and they're so much more enjoyable. I just can't stand the guy doing Queen, he is a terrible match. I'm fine with him doing his own music, and I think Q+PR's version of "Whishing Well" is excellent, but other than that, I am repelled by him singing Queen songs. I'm fine with Adam Lambert though.

I still like the Q+PR times. But I forgot how good this era really was. For shure it was nothing like classic Queen, but for me at last in his own special way something exciting new.
In my opinium the Ukraine show got a too long set, with an amazing beginning and a little boring middle but all in all it was in hindsight a great one.
Noble gesture that they re-releases it to rasise money for the countless victims of this horrible desaster and to show solidarity with the people from Ukraine.
