I suppose a biased argument could be made for any of the above sports listed in the above poll ...

In terms of the players or the fans? LOL

It's ice hockey.
Presuming this is an American set of choices, I choose Hockey.

It's ice hockey. Presuming this is an American set of choices, I choose Hockey. As far as the sheer variety of ways a hockey player can intetionally seriously injure another player goes, hockey is certainly at or near the top of the list. Lately, I recall boarding has cause a lot of concussions which put players out of commision for a while.
I suppose the example I linked is very rare in that the players do not typically cause a melee after the game in which the cops are needed to restore order.
As far sports melees go, the worst one I can recall is this game:
American football also has a fan thug problem ... "occasionally" ...

Sorry, is this about peak violence, or average baseline?
Is stealing a foul ball off a ten year old at the baseball "thuggish"?

I would include fan violence where the incident only resulted in one or more injuries requiring hospitalization. Yes I am unscientific ... LOL

Hockey for sure, though football runs a close second for me. I'm addicted to the Cincinnati Bengals, but knowing I am rejoicing in a game that can cause life-changing injuries is a little cringeworthy. Since some of those injuries come from really dirty play on the part of the other players I suppose that makes it worse.
Used to be a huge baseball fan, and will still watch the Reds from time to time, I have to admit that it infuriates me when I see an adult stealing a foul ball from a kid. Shameful.
