There may be some people on here who may help, I'm hoping to be able to record the audio of a Q+AL gig soon but I only really have my phone to use. I haven't tried recording loud music on my phone but when I last did this a few years ago it would always be really distorted.
I've read that you can tape over the microphone sockets to prevent distortion but maybe some of you may have better ideas. Do any of you know any good, cheap microphones which I could plug in on my phone instead?
Thanks

If you have an iPhone 11 or newer, there's an app called "Audio Recoder - WAV, M4A" by Loop-Sessions.LLC (it's free) that can record lossless stereo WAV up to 24/192 and you can set a fixed gain during recording

I have got an app called "Easy Voice Recorder Pro" and I have got some settings to adjust the recording: Will these sort of settings ensure quality? Sorry I'm not very technical!

If you use only your phone, you're very unlikely to get a stereo recording from the internal mic.
Taping over the mic is a sledgehammer solution, what you really need is some software with gain control.
I think I saw that the fella behind Neutron music player has a recording app - it's not free but if it's half as good as the neutron player, you'll be fine.
External stereo mics can be expensive, but the cheap options aren't necessarily BAD
