Hello, I am Jackson Clift and I need your help. For the past year or so I've been constantly uploading Queen material to the Internet Archive. But it's too much for one person so I need volunteers. I am working on live recordings and some footage. While I need people for music videos, interviews, photos, documentaries, and people to archive Queen sites on the Wayback Machine. If anyone is interested please respond to here.
Thank you,
And God Save The Queen!

Very interesting project, but what's the point? I don't wanna sound rude or anything, I'm just curious as to why, y'know?

I just want to make the Internet Archive a more complete place. And I want to make sure they are properly archived. And I know people have downloaded all these, but I just want to make real sure that they don't get lost. Like maybe one of them falls through the cracks of the Internet and gets lost? And plus I kind of like to archive stuff in my free time. But one thing I know we can all agree on is archiving Queen forum sites to the Wayback machine. Sorry if it is a pointless idea, but it's fun for me

As long as it isn’t against the forum rules or the law, then it’s fine

I thought stuff automatically got onto the Wayback Machine anyway? My understanding is that there’s that side to it, but also a more curated archive. For instance: I can listen to pretty much any Little Feat concert on archive.org because the band’s archivist uploads the concerts onto archive.org. I think the Grateful Dead also do this. Not every band does, of course, but I feel like that may be the goal here. If so, very admirable, but I’m afraid I don’t have the time to help. (I also don’t see how this would break any forum rules, so you’re good there.) Good luck!

First I’ve heard of an internet archive. Great, another rabbit hole to disappear into. I used to love reading Queenpedia, but I don’t know how often it’s updated anymore.

I thought stuff automatically got onto the Wayback Machine anyway? Yep, but sometimes they only archive the site but not the material (videos, images, etc...) present on the it.

I thought stuff automatically got onto the Wayback Machine anyway? They don't. The WayBack Machine only archives stuff that people manually put in. It does not archive automatically. So it might be tedious to put in every single link. But I've done a whole website before in a day so if we have multiple people doing it It won't be that bad.

Are there any data protection implications to be aware of with this? Just as a scenario, say something was archived from a website then someone wanted it removed from the said website. Presumably it would then need to be also removed from the archive?

AFAIK you can send an email to Archive.org in case you want something to be removed.
