What kind of equipment you use for ripping your vinyls and tapes?
I'm always curious about it... i heard many transfers and some of them are really near the state of art. Actually i use a Tascam digital recorder (96khz 24bit on sd) direct linked to the turntable or tape recorder. The turntable is a Audio Technica with internal pre-amp with an AT-VM95EN cartridge.

I've been doing a lot of this during lockdown. Have a few records and tapes that haven't been available digitally legally or otherwise so been getting stuck in. For the vinyl I use revirginiser and leave them over night, give them a peel and record directly into my Zoom somethingorother set full whack qualitywise. Sad I know, but each time I use an app to check the platter speed and digitally adjust the speed of the rip so it's exactly right, compensating for the duration of the record. Additional cleaning is done in protools but to be honest I haven't needed to do much after the peel. I've even started redoing earlier ones I did now I've perfected it to my tastes haha.
Tapes done the same way off a reconditioned old technics deck. Slight EQing any hiss out rather than noise reduction to taste. It's been fun.

I don't suppose that would include any Thin Lizzy, would it?

I don't suppose that would include any Thin Lizzy, would it? Looking for any Thin Lizzy in particular? I've got a 12" version of the Thunder and Lightning single, which has a live version of Still In Love With You on the b side, from Hammersmith Odeon 10th March 1983, which doesn't appear anywhere else. It's different to the Life version, but I think from the same tour. I've been searching on and off for years for a CD with it on, as it's the best live version I've heard, but it's never materialised. I thought it might have been on the Deluxe Thunder and Lightning CD, but no, and it's not even on the recently released box set with all the other singles and b sides. I've got the 12" vinyl in a box somewhere but even if I could find it, I've nothing to play it on to digitise it.

I also have that 12" packed away in a record case, but I also lack a turntable at present. I'll check with some mates to see if any of them has a rip of this particular 12".

I'm quite surprised it doesn't even appear to be on YouTube. Most people think it's the same as the one on the Life album. A PM regarding this matter would be welcomed. 🙂

I fear there are two courses of action available...
Buy a turntable
Ship your 12" to someone who already does
I think there are "usb turntables" to he had under £100, which is pretty good on one hand, but quite a lot to digitise one song!

Yes, and I'd have to find the record amongst a hundred boxes in the garage first!
It's not a matter of life and death. It's just it's about the only record that I've had that I've not managed to find on CD or otherwise digitise.

Third option. Buy the 7" off ebay (£5) and have it shipped to someone with ripping capability.
