Do we have any live recordings from 1970? What is the earliest live performance we have?

Do we have any live recordings from 1970? What is the earliest live performance we have? Earliest public recording is the BBC Radio One concert from September 13th, 1973 at the Golders Green Hippodrome. It exists in A+ quality and complete but the mix on Mercury's vocal is low.

Do we have any live recordings from 1970? What is the earliest live performance we have? Publically, there's nothing that early, but Queen possesses a recording of Imperial College 1970, which is one of their earliest shows ever. Brian was really wanting to release it for Queen's 50th anniversary, but Roger was VERY opposed to it. There was a video interview where Brian explains how Roger denied the release, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. To paraphrase, Roger essentially said something along the lines of "You're not fucking releasing that!"

What is the final conclusion about the audio recording of Marquee 72' ? Do they have it ? I heard QPL bought the tape from a private collector, and now it’s rotting in the archives, alongside other stuff they won’t release (:

I wish we could say Truro City Hall june 1970. Man, imagine that we could listen to that show. Billed as Smile and with Mike Grose on bass. The earliest we have is indeed the Golders Green 1973 show and i'm almost certain (and afraid) it will stay that way.

The Marquee show is fake. If not mistaken it’s a soundcheck from an early Bristol concert.

Anything from 1972 that hasn't been released is about to go out of copyright.
Anything from 1970/71 already is.
If that's not proof, I don't know what would be!

Anything from 1970/71 already is. If that's not proof, I don't know what would be! Point well made. Although anything prior to 1973 only becomes a copyright headache for the band if leaks occurred. while they're safely stored copyright isn't a big worry. Now, were QPL one of those bands who were careless with archive stuff then leaks might be an issue.

There's not many bands who are "careless" with their archives. Zeppelin and Genesis are the only ones that come to mind with the Jimmy Page heist and the Genesis archive heist incidents.

If I remember correctly, the multitracks for Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen and Get Down Make Love , all were available in pro tools library.

Replying to the original question, according to queenlive.ca, Truro (1970-07-25) was apparently recorded: "A friend of Mike Grose apparently recorded this third Queen gig on two reel-to-reel tapes which are still in good shape. Not surprisingly, the owner of the tapes is reluctant to do a transfer and get the recording out".

Only two songs. Why not the entire concert? ?

Only two songs. Why not the entire concert? ? 2 songs are waaaaaaaaaaay better than no songs. Let's be happy with what we DO get because that's pretty spectacular!
