When The Miracle Box got announced I made a pre-order just like many of you. To my very big surprise the box got delivered last Saturday. Since then I get a lot of questions and requests. Please do not ask me to send material, as it is official material I won’t leak or share! I’m happy to share some information if people are still doubting whether to purchase or not, so here we go. Read it all or just the bits that interest you, but beware that it are huge spoilers. It could take the fun and beauty away from discovering new things from the band we all love. When Love Breaks Up I think this is the same as the demo of A New Life Is Born that got leaked years ago. However, during the first line Freddie’s voice is more prominent over the harmony voices (only during the first four words) after that it sounds the same to me as the leaked demo. I Guess We’re Falling Out I'm not sure how many versions of tis song were leaked but the one I know fom years ago is 2:35 or something in length and it starts with the drumbeat from My Baby Does Me for a few seconds. I heard there was also a longer version with the ending from Hang On In There after IGWFO. Not sure if I have heard that one before, I don't have it and on Youtube I only found the 2:35 version. I have compared that one with the one on the Boxset.
The track on the Box set is 3:42 There Is no starting with My Baby Does Me. Some Studio sounds and Freddie saying: 'Oh... Hang on... I'm gonna make sure this is right' and then he starts to sing. From then it seems the same take as from the 2:35 version we know. However there are small differences. Not sure if it is heavily autotuning of overdubbing or parts from another take or session. Biggest difference is the second verse. On the boxset there are actual lyrics where the leaked demo has some 'dee dee dee's' from Freddie. After the track 'ends' around 2:40 or something, there is some studio chat and then the Hang On In There bit. Ending with Roger responding with Yeah,yeah,yeah to something I don't understand. Dog With A Bone Dog With A Bone is 3:48 and I compared it with the Fan Club Message version, at least I think it is, that one is 7:08
The version of the boxset starts with a few seconds studio sounds before it is the same as the 7:08 version. It ends before the fanclub messages start. To me it seems the whole track is the same, but there are some minor differences. I can't really tell if some lines are overdubbed, or just heavily autotuned, or replaced with a line from another session or part of the track. You Know You Belong To Me and Water I had never heard of these before. You Know You Belong To Me is credited to Brian. It has Brian on vocals and is just him and acoustic guitar. Despite it’s short length I believe it’s a complete song. I think it’s beautiful. Water is credited to Queen and has Brian on vocals. It really sounds as a demo and feels somewhat unfinished to me. The Videos on the DVD and Blu-ray I’m not that technical but they look way much better than on the Greatest Video Hits DVD from 2002. The credits in the book say this: I Want It All: Directed by David Mallet. 35mm film 4K scanning by Simon Marbrook at Final Frame. Conform editing by Chris Frankland. Restoration by Luke Davis. Grading by Pete Lynch. I am no sound expert, but on sound quality: They sound clearer to me, defenitely studio quality, less muffled as the leaked demo's I've heard before. And way much better then all the stuff on Youtube |

Very big spoiler: The box doesn't come with a bone and I think no dogs were harmed during the making of it  Regarding the book. Interesting is totally up to your own taste, but here some brief info of what's in it: The book starts with about 3 pages of how they started recording after a break, sharing credits, the cover of te album. All written as quotes from the band members and mostly wel known information. Then the book gives about half a page info of one of the videoclips, followed by some pages with photo's from that clip (All 5 are covered). There are 2 pages with fanclubletters from 1987 to 1989 2 pages with press reviews from the album and singles 2 pages with quotes from bandmembers about every song on The Miracle. 1 or 2 per song and mostly who had the original idea of the song, but i think that also is already well known. Then 4 pages with the tracklisting form the box, but sadly no info about dates of recording. The book ends with the original credits from 1989 and then the 2022 credits (these have some info on engineers, but per disc, not per track) A lot of info already known, but the book itself looks very nice. Sadly no lyrics or extra info on the individual tracks of the Miracle Sessions CD For the Miracle the book says they had about 30 songs and roughly half of it was finished. So that's 10 Miracle songs + Chinese Torture + the 4 B-sides. Then Too Much Love Will Kill You went to Made In Heaven and All God's People went to Innuendo. With this box we get When Love Breaks Up, You Know You Belong To Me, I Guess We're Falling Out, Dog With A Bone, Water and Face It Alone. Then the book says (and this was new for me) that two other songs were revisited for solo projects: Why Don't We Try Again for Brian's Another World and Feel The Force for The Cross. That is 25 songs which makes me wonder what is yet unknown and in the archives (But that's another discussion ) |

I knew it! Somehow I always suspected that Why Don’t We Try Again had to be a Queen song. One of the few Bri or Roger solo tracks that have made me wonder “what if Freddie sang on this” from day one.

Pretty sure there can't be much, if anything at all, of Freddie singing any of the Brian and Roger solo tracks. I've got the feeling Freddie was absent due to health issues, and meanwhile they were demoing initially for Queen but finally branched out material for their eventual solo albums. No wonder there are two Brian tracks in the box, because of these reasons I bet.
Likewise, I don't think there's a Freddie demo for "Hijack My Heart".
