HOT damn. I was on my lunch break so I got most of the way through the alternative sessions and what a treat this is. It really shows how the production of the time honestly hindered it. Such great moments throughout - and You Belong To Me was such a simple song but still beautiful. This has really whetted my appetite for other such boxsets hopefully!

by the way, the miracle sessions CD sounds great and dynamic, a lot better than the bob ludwig masters (at least to my ears)

The Miracle Sessions disc is amazing. I've always thought Party was a dud but in this live setting I love it. I wonder why they replaced and processed so many of the live drums. It was the late-80s, I suppose.
I think I hear a Clavinet at 1:58 on Party. Wonder who played it. Maybe I’m mis-hearing and it’s John or Brian doing some funky guitar.
Overall a really fun disc. It made me smile when Freddie comes in early on IWIA (“Oh my Gaawd... shit!”) and Rain Must Fall ("Ooh!"). Brian’s demos are really nice too. You Know You Belong To Me made me think of Dear Friends. And finally we have Dog With A Bone in the best possible quality (even if the drums are still programmed).
Makes me want to hear the live jamming they did in the Montreux Casino space during the Innuendo sessions (if I’m remembering that story right).

can folks please post in the correct thread. I've had to relocate around a dozen posts to the main Miracle thread - this is the Spoilers only thread and NOT for discussion around "how long my purchase will take to arrive" comments. Now it's the release date, is there any need for two threads?

I can't wait to listen to the rest, Breakthru was really a highlight I don't think a song has ever got that reaction from me before I just wasn't expecting it to sound so... "Live" and "Fun" (for want of a better vocabulary). I've always loved The Miracle, it was the first Album I bought, and I know it has a dated sound and I can see it's flaws but this has given so much new life into something I've heard a million times.

Gave it a quick listen
You Belong To Me: what a nice track, I got a little bit emotional, it has beatlesesque flavour, it would have fit nicely on the White Album.

You can really hear the boys had loads of fun recording this album. The 2nd disc is the best release in years.

Rather than create another new thread, I've retitled this one, so this is now the main discussion thread, including the initial spoilers posts.

Was really looking forward to this and it didn't disappoint (apart from a few missing pieces). Next stop: INNUENDO!

And John’s bass on Breakthru is superb….it’s criminally they replaced him with a synth on that! I honestly think there were bad production choices through a lot of their 80’s work (much more so than in the 70’s). Some of the guitar sound is heavier and more prominent in some of the outtakes too.

Is anyone else finding the sound quality of the instrumental tracks really below that of the other discs?

Nice to hear that Freddie is clearly sat playing the piano at the same time as singing on some of the stuff in progress.

I don't know if it was all due to production values, but Brian's guitar sounded 'thinner' on much of the 80s material. It was something that disappointed me with each subsequent release as I always hoped for a return to the 'meatier' sound. Brian's Back To The Light had his classic sound, which was a huge relief.

Mine hasn't arrived yet but I've now heard a few bits of Disc 2. "We bought a drum kit - and a bit of crumpet!" 🤣🤣

I have the same feeling about the guitar sound. Especially during the Miracle, then Rare Live came out, during the intro IWIA single version sounded very rich and fat. Years after I realized that they used mono mix. Same every Innuendo videos. After hearing the sessions and instrumentals I think the problem with 80s Queen is the mix

Couple of listens now via Spotify - won't get the actual before Monday now - they've not done a bad job - shame there's no Face It Alone demo / working stuff. I'd happily listen to hours of them talking in the Studio and not this edited pieced together stuff. Also have tinge of sadness that Freddie didn't get chance to continue and that they couldn't tour this album.

My box set should arrive today, but it looks like it's not streaming on Apple Music in the US. They did this with the News Of The World box set too – the Sessions versions of We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions were "released" as "singles", but the whole collection is missing. I guess I should assume it'll be the same this time around.
Edit: it's up now!

Playing the Blu-ray now in glorious 5.1 surround
Wouldn't swear to it but they sound like new (or tweaked) mixes. Very nice either way!! (I'll check my GVH2 DVD later on). I'm getting a very small sync issue... but could be my telly and/or blu-ray player.

I am certainly one of those that would place TM as one of the bottom two of all Queen albums for me, but Disc 2 has opened my eyes to some degree. Lyrically, still brutally bad in places, but why they chose to replace the "sonic volcano" with "My First Drum and Bass Electronic Playset" that someone clearly got as a gift is beyond me.
Party and Breakthru in particular are fantastic. You have Deacon and Taylor and choose to replace them? I'm lost for words....
I had to go back to the original (I simply don't listen to it, ever) to remind myself how bad the electronica and production sounded.
Was not planning on listening to the new stuff at all but curiosity got the better of me and I do have to eat my words somewhat. Wouldn't have lifted it massively up the list for me but with a more dynamic/natural sound as heard here on some of Disc2 , it would have been significantly better. You do have to wonder at some of the production choices they made over the years (Jazz, I'm looking at you...)
Still listening to Disc2 for the first time, and enjoying the experience far more than I ever expected to.

Anyone detect any autotune yet? Not sure if you’re joking but can we wait a little bit until people have the box and have listened to it before we start with the autotune crap? If it’s really that big of a deal, start a separate thread – I don’t want this thread being overrun with arguments on the merits and morality of using autotune.

Another note of disappointment: The Teaser Tape CD is somewhat pointless. It may even be LESS interesting than the original tape (didn't that have alternative mixes?).

Some initial observations:
Breakthru is fascinating but I can't help but wish they'd given us a more complete version, with the guitar solo, only with real drums and bass.
The Miracle sounds a lot better than the more 'produced' original version, but again, I wish they'd given us that mix with the Brian ending. Whilst the track sounds great, the 'John' ending is a bit naff, in my opinion.
The 'intro' jazzy bit on IWIA definitely sounds stitched on from somewhere else. Otherwise it sounds great, but still seems to have that slightly processed snare, rather than the full on natural drum sound.
Party is a track I hardly ever listened to, but this version with real drums is fantastic! What a way to start the album that would have been. Whatever were they thinking replacing Roger on the opening track?!
Rain Must Fall sounds more 'real' and is possibly a track I will play more often.
WIAWI has that brilliant ad-libbed line but is quite a basic mix and has a fair bit of guitar missing. Not complaining but again, it would have been nice to have had a fully formed alternative version as well.

Calling most of the alternative tracks ‘original take’ is off though - they’ve got fully complete vocal harmonies, some final parts, multi layered rhythm and lead guitars etc…they’re certainly not an “original take”!!
Oh the plus side, the drum sound on the early takes is superb!
