Lone wolf opinion here, but I'm loving the "Frankensteined" aspect of this. Roger's Freudian slip comment is great fun, and I don't need to sift through 7 hours of outtakes to find it. I'd rather it was a listenable (and DAMN is that 2nd disc ever listenable!) 'best of' rather than every scrap. I guess I'm more interested in quality over quantity. Don't get me wrong, this is the best most exciting release we've had in years, and if the choice is between hearing the sessions as polished up highlights and never hearing them at all, I'm all for it. It's still a fascinating insight to something we've never been allowed to see before. Knowing it's mashed up from a years with of sessions doesn't take away from that for me. I was just giving my two cents as to weather it was really considered "live".

I received my boxset an press kitt yesterday. Still looking to find time to dive into the contents, but the looks of the box make me very happy.
The press kit, with introductory letter, band biography and pictures is nice, but it would have been a better gimmick if the Teaser Tape was actually on tape!
It's nice to hold the heavy weight vinyl with Too Much Love Will Kill You on it, although I cannot play it as I don't have a turntable yet.
The book is looking nice, with some great pictures in it. Hopefully, the text in it will be an interesting read as welll.
Posters are a nice addition, but it's not that I'm going to hang them on my wall. My wife wouldn't let me... especially not one from The Miracle's album cover!
Really looking forward to listening to the CD's as this was the album that got me into Queen in 1989 at age 7.

One more thing: It's really nice that they kept the same box size/format as the News of the World boxset, but a shame that they released the first one with a glossy finish. I prefer the matt finish on The Miracle. Hopefully, QP will make a matt outer case available for the News of the World set somewhere in the future. I'd be happy to upgrade my boxset.

I’ve already had to clean (my) smudged fingerprints off the book cover, simply from extracting it from the box and reading it. Kind of frustrating, but if anyone else needs a solution, use a paper towel and some hand sanitizer and wipe it carefully on the affected areas.

I love the fact I hear new things on each listen, Freddies "shit" after the "Oh my god" when he realises he's Started IWIA too early, disguised by the guitar and drums but there. I wonder if he got a glare from Brian.
Scandal sort of going into a bit of "My Life has been saved" with the bass solo towards the end.

Arent we missing more demo tracks? I seem to remember the leaked stuff on youtube, rain must fall with freddie singing through brians harmony pedal, with "property of queen productions" overlapping it. The i guess we re falling out leaked demo had guitar outro, the miracle and scandal had different demos on the teaser tapes.
Wonder if we ll see these on a mega anthology one day?

They seem to have stayed away from just filling a CD with the leaked tracks, so there is still a place in our hearts for bootlegs.... I'm not sure my version of that take of Rain Must Full has "property of queen productions" overlapping it, My copy is 1 minute long, is there a longer version?

Hi folks,
my parcel arrived yesterday and of course CD 2 was the first think I took and it was a great evening I have to say. I read the comments here before and so I was some kind of deflowered in a way. A historian would say: They gave us not some insight in their past but sources to tell a story about the past of each song they put on this record. It's obvious that none of these tracks was just a copy and paste case. At least in "The Miracle" session you find very familiar background sounds. But I enjoyed the different lyrics and ideas and I'm satisfied that we have a nice addition the the other demo versions that leaked many years ago. Some people mentioned the missing press kit. Is this the big black 12" envelope full of pictures an posters? My Box set was labelled "Made and Germany" and misses the Teaser-CD as well but maybe it's because it's only content in the UK. Who knows? I label it useless anyway. For me a Queen weekend will come with relistening to these sessions and the Toronto 1977 concerts that were leaked by Bob a few moons ago. Forget about advent.
Kind regards, W.

The box with the press kit was a separate product, exclusive to queenonlinestore.com. So unless you bought that specific product (which is now sold out), you won't get the press kit.

Ah okay, the press kit came as a separate addition with the regular box. Thank you for dissolving the fog.

If you don't hear back in a couple days about the missing bits, just post on their Twitter and Facebook pages. You deserve your money back if you don't get a reply, to say the least.

Has it been a week already? Well, for me on my end at least. Still listening to Disc 2, and I'm still floored! I guess it's time for my highlights:
Party: I feel dumb not realizing the released version used programmed drums, and I could almost never listen to it again after hearing the original take with live drums
The Miracle: Now this is the kind of outtake I wanna hear from Queen. Hearing Freddie come up with different sets of lyrics for part of the song, discovering that "That time will come..." lyric used to be in a different section of the song, and hearing John's ending actually sounds less jarring in comparison to the final version's ending
I Want It All: That riff idea Freddie was pitching at the beginning is an interesting one to start with, but it doesn't sound like it has anything to do IWIA to my ears. Still pretty memorable though, I was humming it at work earlier. The rest of the song, interesting hearing the solo split up with the fast part used as the ending instead of being the solo proper like in the single version.
The Invisible Man: I was gonna skip this the 1st time around, expecting it to be the same kettle of fish as the one we've heard on the 2011 bonus EP, but I liked Roger's guide vocals, and the cut middle eight, so why not? Boy did it surprise me. I was not expecting the closing solo at all! I had to do a double take and listen to the same track from the 2011 deluxe edition and make sure I wasn't losing my mind.
When Love Breaks Up/A New Life Is Born: For some reason, the second half reminds me of Lily Of The Valley a bit.
Breakthru: Hearing the Real Drums & Bass version and the final version back to back felt like a Strawberry Fields moment for me. I can now hear which part was synthesized bass and which one was John's.
My Baby Loves Me: Freudian Slip!
I Guess We're Falling Out: So this is where that part from Hang On In There came from.
I've thought the NOTW box set 5 years ago would be the last time we'd get a glimpse of what lay in the vaults in terms of outtakes, and The Miracle's box set would be a pipe dream, yet here we are. Funny thing about The Miracle is that this was usually in the bottom of my list. Hearing it again with the sessions disc made me appreciate it some more.

S Part of it ended up finding a home in Was It All Worth It's break section! Indeed. At 4:16 in WIAWI on orchestral part, the notes are the same, but not sung by FM of course. For me, all the intro part to IWIA od Disc 2 has much in common with HOIT (a fiddly jam demo). Sure, HOIT is a JAM, but I like to think, that both IWIA and HOIT have common roots. The biggest omission (IMHO) is lack of Rivers of Words. I was in 99% convinced that Water and ROW is a same gem...

I'm surprised to see that the box set was released by EMI, didn't Queen sign with Virgin a few years ago? I know the picture discs are released by Virgin, but why not the set? Is it a matter of territory (UK vs the rest of Europe)?

I’m also bemused by why they pull out “John’s original ending’ as a name for The Miracle when the big point on this albums was shared and collectives credits, no matter who originated an idea. Nothing else is similarly named, eg ‘Freddie original start’, ‘Roger’s original idea’ etc… I hope it’s not an attempt to say ‘look at what John suggested before Brian stepped in and made it better’. Maybe for the ending there were 3 or 4 competing ideas, and they tried each of them out -- an ending with the rock jam only (Brian's idea?), an ending with the "that time will come" only (Freddie's idea?), and also one with John's idea only. That might also explain why 3 years later on the Classic Queen CD they included a version that edited out the rock ending, even if it was also to save space. And maybe the original album version is a compromise with all three ideas stitched together, with only a bit of a bass solo, and they wanted to present this Collector's Edition version as "John's ending" because Freddie's and Brian's ideas are already fully developed. Classic Queen edit:

Is it a matter of territory (UK vs the rest of Europe)? Queen signed to Island/Universal about 10 years ago, then Universal bought Virgin/EMI not long after. I’d presume it’s fairly arbitrary which of that merged company’s labels is printed on their releases, so it makes sense to use the one they were with for most of their career and even name-checked in a song.

Yes, it's so nice to find some new elements and ideas in the songs and I agree: The final versions will never be the same again. I also listened to the B-Sides and extended Versions and the ears are more sensible now and in the end I find the answer why I didn't rate "The Miracle" as a great album. It were only a few songs I enjoyed but the most part of it was not my tune. The same goes for "Jazz". At least it's the weak production. In the case of "The Miracle" they wanted to much "Zeitgeist" at the time and that's why the album did not age very well. CD 2 is some kind of healing and safer of the albums reputation. By the way: I love Brains songs from the vaults very much and find it strange that they have been locked like unloved step children for years.

Google Play Store or Apple App Store should have an app to do the job. Just put the track on your phone and use the app to create the ringtone.

The CD2 is the best thing we ever get since Made in Heaven. Pretty sure they are working on A Kind of Magic boxset and then they'll return on releasing Innuendo boxset. Have to say that IF there's still the idea alive of the movie sequel then 1986's + 1991's tracks are going to be remixed and remastered soon, again, in a deeper secret room. Queen Productions is looking forward to get all the things ready... Bohemian Rhapsody ending credits (TSMGO got remixed did you remember?).
