Sad Brian is my favourite Brian  I loved their lyrics on the first 5 albums when they were more of a British band and lyrics like "tarry with me pray" and "how did thee fare, what have thee seen?" were not words used by American bands, they sounded very intelligent at such a young age. |

I recall reading reviews of Queen's original CD issues of their back catalogue (in the 80's) in Record Collector magazine, and it was stated that there was a mastering error on the Queen II CD which placed the ending of The March of the Black Queen at the beginning of Funny How Love Is. More or less the same error was made when the ending of You Take My Breath Away (backwards singing?) was tacked onto the beginning of Long Away on the initial A Day at the Races UK CD.

"Never wanted to be the boy next door/always thought I'd be something more" is about the most soul crushing lyric in the catalogue. The way Roger sings it just reeks of regret and hopelessness. Drowse is up there with the oddest songs Queen ever did, lyrically and sonically, and for me it was the pinnacle of Roger's Queen efforts.
