WDW News today picked up on a rumour that Disney are to replace Aerosmith with Queen at the Rock n Roller coaster in Orlando. The segment starts at 8:49. Wouldn't put much faith in it, they don't. But it is an interesting idea. WDW News Today - Rock 'N' Roller Coaster with Queen Rumor
Disney own the Queen catalogue in North America, but not sure how you could create the ride without new footage. Graham

Graham I would imagine any new footage for the preshow would involve Brian, Roger and Adam Lambert. Especially if it's comedic banter in the simulated studio like is in the current version of the ride.

I don’t think so, Freddie is way too iconic for the brand to not be a main role in something as huge as a Disneyland attraction.

This is interesting.
I was just down in Orlando in Disney this week. We noted that the Aerosmith rollercoaster was shut down, but thought no more of it.
That said, we were staying in Disney's All Star Music Resort and Queen was featured prominently right in the main concourse by the the gift shop. There was a display set up with a gold record of Queen Greatest Hits, along with a guitar and a few other pieces of Queen memorabilia.
There were also some portraits of some the greats of rock on this one wall, but only one band got the gold record treatment down at eye level.
I mean, this would make a lot of sense. Queen is incredibly relevant for a band that has been Freddie-less for going on 32 years. Their awareness level in America is higher than at any time I can recall since Freddie departed. The movie (for al the frustrating inaccuracies) really cemented their place in the pop culture zeitgeist. Even the kids know Queen. They're everywhere now.
So I could see this rollercoaster being a possibility...

This would be interesting. Maybe you stumble into a Q+AL soundcheck and they ask you to run an errand to bring something for them back to the venue? Would be weird to not have Fred present for this though. Hoping they don't use the Bo Rhap cast for this if it does happen.
My picks for songs to be used would be
Stone Cold Crazy Tie Your Mother Down Dead On Time Don't Stop Me Now The Hero/Football Fight (A Flash Gordon medley would go great with a roller coaster ride) The Hitman

http://instagr.am/p/CqJ8u6poT-P I first assumed this was a U.S summer tour announcement, but the way it's worded makes me think it might be them announcing the whole Rock N Rollercoaster thing since it seems both Brian and Roger are here in the U.S and there will also seemingly be a press conference

The All Star Music Resort seemed pretty filled. Lots of people enjoying the hotel and going to and from the park. Very nice hotel especially compared to the higher-priced Disney hotels that seem very similar.

Disney have confirmed that the Rock n Roller coaster will reopen in September 2023. It is a ride that frequently broke down, so it's probable this was mainly a technical shutdown. Doesnt rule out a change in the theming in the future, but it is highly unlikely there will be any major changes to the ride given it will only have been closed for 6 months. Major ride refurbishments typically take a year or more. Rock n Roller coaster in Paris was shut for 3 years when they switched it to an Iron Man ride, presumably switching to a different musical artist would require less effort, but still it's too soon)
They have stopped selling any Aerosmith branded merch, but that could be due to licensing costs rather than a sign of changes to come. (Or just distancing themselves from the whole court case thing, honestly the shutdown couldn't have happened at a better time for Disney)
