Hi everyone.
Below is a review of the album 'News Of The World', far from positive at first, from an English music magazine from 1977: it's titled Queen sleeps on one side shock. The journalist who wrote the article, Donna McAllister, clearly didn't appreciate side A of the album (which she defines as 'foreboding'), but changed her mind with side B. She praises Brian May for his two songs included on that side ('Sleeping On The Sidewalk' and 'It's Late') and also appreciates 'Who Needs You' and 'My Melancholy Blues'. On 'Get Down Make Love', unfortunately, she defines the song as 'two-bit redundant rubbish'.
Enjoy the reading.

Thanks for posting the review. NOTW was the 1st Queen album I bought, back in the early 80's and I still like it as much now as I did then, which is a lot. I understand that the more drastic than usual change in the Group's sound and songs on the album haven't found favour will all fans of Queen/that Era over the years, but in my view the overall quality of the material places the album pretty high up when I rank Queen's albums.
Regarding the review, I've always liked side 1 better than side 2, but not by much, and if the reviewer is referring to Brian's count-in when she mentions 'all that noise at the beginning of WWRY', it doesn't exactly diminish the less than stellar view I have as to the veracity of the review overall.
