I had assumed that there were no Queen albums released in mono, but have come across a couple of 12" singles that are in mono, I guess made for the radio play. But have they ever released any whole albums in mono?

I might be showing my ignorance here, but doesn't everything give mono reproduction when played on mono equipment?

That note on the Flash cassette is on pretty much every stereo cassette issued from the late 60s onwards. Those Queen ones used the same EMI blurb template for years - right into the 80s.
There were a few mono singles, mainly promos issued in America. Notably, Keep Yourself Alive on the Electra GH1 is the mono version.

Ah, I grew up with the ‘91 Hollywood Records cassettes, so that explains my ignorance. Well, part of it at least…

"This mono tape gives improved reproduction when played on stereo equipment"which was a play on EMI's usual guff: "this stereo tape also gives genuine mono reproduction on mono equipment"I think Queen's was a "joke play" on the standard line. Wonder if "mono" was also was a tongue-in-cheek reference to the album itself - single song-writing credits, the 4-become-1 album cover. it's all a single "mono" entity?
