Does Aerosmith have any Boxsets like that? Pandora's Box is probably the closest they got to archival releases. There's maybe a half dozen or so previously unreleased outtakes and some live rarities, but it stops at 1982 or so.

I don't mind Queen + ending soon... I am sick and tired of them playing all the very same songs over and over again. It's like listening to GH1 + some other tracks live. Don't you think that's a bit selfish? Stoning Q+AL is easy when you've been a Queen fan for a long time, meaning you either got to see the original lineup perform (at best), or maybe Brian or Roger as solo artists, or that you were already around when MIH or Queen Rocks came out (at worst), aka when the band still had new songs to feed their fans with. For many younger fans, Q+AL is the only opportunity to see Brian and Roger on tour. If the collaboration hadn't happened or if it had come to a halt just a couple of years into its formation, those who joined the fanbase later on wouldn't have had any opportunity to see them. That being said, I agree having a few deep cuts on the setlist would be great. But condemning the entire formation for that is wrong – they did, after all, perform a few just 3 years ago. They continue to do it with I Was Born To Love You and Love Kills, and both made the new live album.
We see things a bit different.

Do any of us here remember in 1995, Queen were to release the complete BBC sessions? The B-sides of Let Me Live on the CD single were from the forthcoming BBC sessions, and it never materialised at the time. It took until 2016 for that set to be released and even then it seems the complaint is it was heavily autotuned although I haven't actually listened to it myself. I would have been so excited to have this in 1995 and I would have bought it, but by 2016, I didn't want to part with my cash. I've bought so much Queen product over the decades including a BM guitar, I don't think that QPR missed my £40. That was five years or so before I got into Queen, but weren't the B-sides promotion for the At The Beeb / At The BBC album that was also released in 1995? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/At_the_Beeb_(Queen_album)

Source: www.discogs.com/Queen-Let-Me-Live/release/804270In 1995 Queen re-released "At the Beeb" in US and Canada, simply renamed "At the BBC" (Source: www.discogs.com/Queen-At-The-BBC/release/1267132) on CD and MC, then the following year they advertised another "Queen at the BBC" (coming out in 1997 together with Queen Rocks?) on the "Let me Live" 1996 singles, but I don't get the idea behind reissuing the first and third session and then release the complete sessions shortly after.

“ A lot of people are asking about THE MIRACLE box. There really isn't too much to say, other than it was 99% complete when focus moved elsewhere a few months ago. It's still on the agenda, but not for yet a while as I understand it. When the band decides when they want to issue it, I promise to let you know as soon as I do. It's a lovely product, so I hope it emerges sooner than later. There are some great elements within the box and some nice unexpected surprises. We have some interesting ideas for related merchandise as well. Not exactly miraculous, but rather good!!! Adam Unger and and I came up with something we refer to as 'EYE WANT IT ALL' but you'll have to wait and see what it is. No, it's not glasses!!”

Business, business, business.
Obviously with Covid scuppering the tours, they've hedged their bets by chucking out the stopgap live QAL album. A sop to the frustrated ticket holders, and who knows, the next tour may never even happen. They'd never have released a QAL album while they were actually out on tour, ie when there were still (cough VIP cough) tickets to sell. They're capitalising on a lousy situation as all good capitalists businessmen do.
It has been ever thus. Remember Live at Wembley VHS in 1990? Rare Live, the year before? They were there to soak up the fan demand for a tour (that was never going to happen, clearly). Live Magic was a post-tour cash in released just in time for Christmas (and no accident it was a single LP either).
A Miracle Box Set is not similarly time dependent - it'll sell, whenever it appears (within the next few years anyway).
We're Queen fans, we know all this. It sucks, yes. But that's business for you.

I'm not too bothered about waiting longer for it, we don't know exactly what's on it. If we did and especially if it's something rare or unreleased before then that would be hard for me to keep the patience.

I think that's more or less nail on head. Although, it has to be said, most of their releases have been in November (ish) to catch the Christmas market, so LM was nothing unusual there.

Thank you Brian, Roger and QPL for keeping your most loyal fans from getting what's potentially the best product of the last decade! That's optimistic! Unless they've remixed the whole thing and replaced all the processed drums with real Roger, all I'm expecting is a bunch of rehashed demos that most of us have probably heard before, a collection of the 12" mixes and b sides, and possibly a bit of a 'making of' video alongside the promo videos on a DVD. As it's not my favourite album, I won't be paying silly money for a box of tat and one interesting item. But I hope I'm wrong and they really do surprise us.

God...what a boring company... (QPL) please, fire everybody on that company and let some fans from here to run the company... it's very sad that the most interesting things about this band on this latest years is made by fans (CMI remasters, Chief Mouse works, C_Matt remixes, Bul video anthologies...) so, so sad

You could fire everyone, but I reckon the same stuff would come out. There are three (plus one?) QPL board members who will always have the final say and veto, aren't there?
Jim was happy to see the Freddie boxsets etc get released, so it's down to the other two in the end. I doubt John is vetoing anything, but who knows.
And we only hear what we're allowed to hear about how these decisions are made. There may be numerous other factors at play.

I really do think any box set would sell better during the corona-crisis than afterwards - people are simply buying more entertainment for home use now. I think they blundered business-wise by not releasing it. I also don't get what the reasoning could be - I seriously doubt there's not enough money, and I can't imagine it would interfere with the sales of the QAL live album.

Instead, I'm probably going to invest in Tears for Fears' The Seeds of Love ultra deluxe box set.

I have Apple Music so I’ve been listening to some of the deeper stuff, in addition to the main album, but my main reason for wanting to buy it is for the packaging, which appears massively impressive.

TFF made a really good job with their Super Deluxe Edition, I hope The Miracle boxset would be similar to them, there are a lot of b-sides, instrumentals, extended/remixed versions and demos from that period, but I don't put that much hope in QPL anymore.

They'd never have released a QAL album while they were actually out on tour, ie when there were still (cough VIP cough) tickets to sell. They're capitalising on a lousy situation as all good capitalists businessmen do. It's up to the record label. Even a band as big as them get little say. When it comes to the major labels the artist gets some input and pitches ideas now and again, but the label ultimately says yes or no. And it goes within the confines of a contractual obligation that determines how many products (and what kinds of products) are released within a certain time frame. The reality is - the labels are worth far more than any artist (McCartney included), so what they say goes. It's been that way since the late '70s when labels became monolithic enterprises. Always follow the money.
As for ticket costs - Ticketmaster and Live Nation (which are now the same company) take a far bigger cut than most people realize, and the costs of arena production have multiplied as the technology has improved. Of course the prices are obscene, but be sure to look at the balance sheet before looking square at the artist and not the ticket agent, promoter, or the crew who need to be paid for working far longer hours than the artist.
I realize this is a fan forum, but most Queen fans don't seem to understand how the business works. So this will likely fall on deaf ears because fans seem to find enjoyment in slandering their favourite artists behind the comfort of a keyboard, as this is perhaps easier than actually understanding how things work.
Of course people are welcome to believe Brian and Roger are sellouts, and only after Mercury's death. But it beats me why that version feels better to some.

I'm not sure if you're agreeing or disagreeing with me, but I think you're probably right on the whole, although after all who really knows how their model works if you're not actually in/well versed in the music business? But yes we should not forget the importance of record labels, and the tour promoters. Where I've said "they" in my post, just include QPL, Universal Music, Ticketmaster as party to the decisions that drive us all mad. I should note though that ridiculous ticket prices came in only once the internet robbed the record labels of most of their physical sales income. I don't think that a coincidence. As for slagging off Queen or calling them sellouts, it's not something I care to do, personally. I dislike some of what they do but so what, it's up to me what I choose to pay for or listen to. In fact I find the relentless Bri/Rog slagging very tiresome. Not to say they are beyond criticism, of course..

I should note though that ridiculous ticket prices came in only once the internet robbed the record labels of most of their physical sales income. I don't think that a coincidence. The downfall began long before then. In the 1980s the genie was out of the bottle when record labels effectively chose to give out 16/44 masters of songs on compact discs, not to mention how people's purchasing habits changed as they could create mix tapes of songs off the radio. Most people choose convenience over quality - it's been that way since Edison.
As for ticket prices, it was the Eagles reunion in 1994 that saw the first huge spike, long before downloading.
The labels ultimately wrote their own epitaph by fighting Napster in the early 2000s. They missed their chance to monetize digital, unlike video game companies. As a result, video games are now bigger than the music business, Hollywood, and sports combined. Net revenues of the gaming industry this year alone were $114 billion US. I don't think most people know that or can truly comprehend the magnitude of that reality, particularly of how much the world has changed in the last 20 years in that regard.
After failing to monetize digital the labels came up with the concept of "360 Deals," which cuts them in on ticket sales, merch, and licensing, which more than makes up for their losses - albeit temporarily. It's all moot. Drops of water in an ocean, at the end of the day. I predict record labels won't exist in 50 years. The artists will eventually walk, just like they gave the middle finger to Motown when they did the same thing in the '60s.
