Even though JP 81 had only 5 shows, the costumes of each member were not certain, and the dates were also wrong.
So with the help of littlequeenie97 and Mustapha Ibrahim and other, I was able to identify the date and member costume based on the many JP 81 photos I have
*Brian's costume is the same for all five shows, so I won't explain.
#1 2/12(1st night)
Two professional photographers, Koh Hasebe and Max Takahashi, worked on 2/12. Although Koh Hasebe's photos were not labeled, they were done by Max Takahashi.
Members' outfits are simple.
Freddie is wearing a Superman shirt/red pants, Roger is a white shirt (black shirt later in the show)/pink pants, and John is a blue shirt/red pants
Freddie is wearing a Superman shirt/red pants, Roger is a white shirt (black shirt later in the show)/pink pants, and John is a blue shirt/red pants
so, Many of the photos labeled 2/16 on queenlive.ca are actually 2/12
#2 2/13(2nd night)
There are many classic live photo on this day
The only professional photographer who worked on 2/13 was Koh Hasebe.
Fred is wearing red shirt/white pants, Roger is wearing white shirt/black pants, and John is wearing white shirt/green pants.
All Queenlive.ca labeling is correct
All Queenlive.ca labeling is correct
legendary Koh Hasebe only photographed these two shows
#3 2/16(3rd night)
Peter Hince and Saito Shirabe’s photo exist on 2/16. Fred's outfit here is the same as 2/12, but John wears a white shirt/red pants so you can tell them apart.
so this classic photo is 2/16
#4 2/17(4th night)
This show has very strange problem. The only surviving photographs are those of Saito Shirabe and an amateur photographer unknown. Fred's rere polo shirt, which was discussed a bit earlier, must be from this show.
Assuming Saito Shirabe's set was taken at two shows, one was 2/16 with Fred has a Superman shirt and John has a white shirt/red pants.
However, there was only one photos which John is wearing green pants. So we can assume that that photo is the same show as the polo shirt.
the one amateur photo with an angle looking down on the stage, John is wearing a white shirt/green pants too.
However, Fred's outfit does not match. so we have no choice but to assume he changed during the show.
He had a very strange change of clothes from polo shirt to heaven shirt/white pants (with tons of backstage passes)
#5 2/18(5th night)
This was the masterpiece of this discovery. The famous backstage photo session for the cover of Music Life magazine took place at JP 81, but the labeling only said "February 1981" and the date was unknown.
Although Fred was wearing a flash shirt at the time, there were no such photos in the magazine, and when a polo shirt taken by Saito Shirabe was found, it was assumed that the members were simply in costume for the photo session. The photo of the 2/17 heaven shirt/white pants (with tons of backstage passes) had already been shared, so it was assumed that the polo shirt was 2/18.
But
I found a Music Life article that said the photo session was held on 2/18, and found that Fred was wearing a Flash shirt and holding a yellow paper tape (proof that it was a Japan show), and that 2/18 was done in the same outfit as the photo session.
I assumed that Fred changed his clothes on 2/17 as above to make sense with John's outfit(white shirt/green pants)
so 2/18 costume is
end it
This is very herd works to me lol
This find is not yet complete, anyone with clearer photos of JP81 is welcome to contact me.
