Hello everybody, today's article it's called Limp-wrist section and was published in the English music magazine New Musical Express on September 27th, 1975; it is an interview of the journalist Julie Webb with Freddie Mercury. The article is introduced with the rumor that Queen were close to splitting, due to several canceled summer dates (the US tour arranged for August then cancelled), problems with management in the UK and the absence of new music from several months. The news is then obviously denied, as readers are informed that the band is about to release a new single in October, a new album by the end of November and is ready to go back on tour late in the year. Freddie is interviewed about the new manager of the band (John Reid) and announces the title of the new LP 'A Night At The Opera'; the titles of all the new songs that will complete the tracklist of the same are also listed. Below, the original article and some personal notes. Enjoy your reading!
Interesting notes: the article writes that two members of Hustler, the British band who opened for Queen during the 'Sheer Heart Attack' UK tour in 1974, were present in the studio's control room one day during the recording of 'A Night At The Opera'. It is also written that Sparks, the American rock band of the Mael brothers, would have asked Brian May to join them as a lead guitarist. Freddie also denies the possibility of the band performing any shows with Elton John in the future, although both Queen and John are signed to Reid.
