Peter Hince has a new book called Queen Uncovered due in October 2023. Hince's "Queen Experience" exhibition in Turin was mentioned in this forum not long ago... I guess there's a connection? From the publisher: "With many never-before-seen photographs and memorabilia, Queen Uncovered is a treasure trove of amazing content from the personal archive of former roadie for Queen and renowned writer, Peter Hince. Peter Hince spent 13 years as head roadie for Queen. His collection of photographs and ephemera from the band’s personal and public moments will finally see the light of day for the first time. It’s a unique photographic record of one of the most celebrated rock bands of all time. From concerts in Munich to Japan, Hince follows Queen from studio to street to stage. Facsimiles of handwritten notes from recording sessions, photos of the band in the studio, images of cassettes given to Hince to debut at clubs, Freddie Mercury with and without a mustache . . . the list goes on. Along with many candid moments are great photos of the various items collected from more than a decade of tours: backstage passes, matchbooks, set lists, and more."

Great news!!! "Queen Unseen" is my favorite book. An honest telling, even Roger praised its authenticity.
Can't wait!

What is it these days with everyone announcing books/albums/movies etc 6 months or more before release? All it does is piss me off I have to wait so long.
By the time this comes out, I'll have forgotton about it!

By the time this comes out, I'll have forgotton about it! Videogames tend to be announced years before release, haha. It's frustrating to no end.

This is a great news. Hopefully a lot of previously unseen photos.
And hopefully the price will be sensible.

By the time this comes out, I'll have forgotton about it! I don't even know if/when it was announced. I just stumbled upon it yesterday by accident when I was looking for something else on Amazon. I just checked Amazon UK and my price tracker indicates that it has been sitting there available for pre-order for 58 days! I don't remember hearing about it through any official Queen channels.

It's already available for pre-order at major online shops, so you can check your local price. I was lucky to get in a pre-order at over a 20% discount yesterday, because today it's at the list price.

I also have the book and love it. Wonderful pictures from backstage, in studio's, concert halls and stadiums...
And love the comments by Ratty. A very enjoyable read.

can anyone comment on how different this is, compared to the first book? This book is more a coffee table picture book. Some stories I knew from his other book. The story of the accident he had while driving Freddie is featured again but this time with a picture of the letter he received from the police that he wouldnot be prosecuted. I have both books and having them both is a plus. There's a lot more text in Queen unseen but both books are in the same vein and the new one offers more images, thus adding visuals to some already known stories.

I'm trying to hold off until after Christmas to treat myself to this book, but every time I read a positive review it gets harder. I did enjoy Hince's first book because it was so different from many of the others, giving a new picture of life with the band. Looking forward to this one.

as a book collector of Queen/Freddie books, I highly recommend this book by Ratty to anyone who is into Queen books - I recieved it just yesterday and it's now one of my top fave new books about Queen - it is sooo huge and soo big, a real pleasure to look at, your classic coffee table book and what a journey Ratty made with chronological order of the storytelling with great photographs, lots of them new (and even those that are not that much new here in this case can be seen in big formats and in all it's glory), memorabilia, studio artefacts, everything - I'd say that for those who in particular collect big photobooks this is definitely the must have, what a joy, wishing everyone who would get it too to enjoy it and considering the question are there a lot of repetitions of photos from the previous book - luckily, no, most of the stuff is new. And what's more important, it can be definitely felt that this book was created by Mr. Peter Hince with love and care so it brings the joy of sharing the love of Queen with the pesron from the Queen inner circle. Definitely makes you get into real Queen atmosphere for a nice couple of hours Thank you so much, Mr. Hince. Highly recommended. 10/10. 100%. Fab

"Queen Unseen" is my favorite book. An honest telling, even Roger praised its authenticity. This. I enjoyed Queen Unseen as well and as you say Ratty gave a completely honest opinion. Brian in particular is known for his 'revisionism' of Queen's history, e.g. stating that the Magic tour was 'Queen's best'. Ratty made it clear in his book that it definitely wasn't and I know whose opinion I would tend to believe.

Brian in particular is known for his 'revisionism' of Queen's history, e.g. stating that the Magic tour was 'Queen's best'. Ratty made it clear in his book that it definitely wasn't and I know whose opinion I would tend to believe. From Brian’s point of view it was there best tour, it included four sellout stadium shows in the UK and a stadium show in Hungry (a first for them) and a sell out Knebworth. The band were playing well and the audiences loved the shows! Ratty had retired and came back at Freddie’s request. This tour was on a vast level compared to other European tours they’d undertaken in the past. There was a lot more money and many more companies involved. The original close roadie community and become lost because of the sheer size of the production. Ratty made a point about the lighting (he was right) the rig was huge for the sake of saying it’s huge, and despite Queen claiming it was the biggest rig ever it wasn’t as big as Van Halen’s 1984 rig or AC/DC’s rig the year before. It was a mess and no longer had that Queen look with wide blocks of colour. So both were right in their views, they are different people viewing the same situation from different prospectives.

Yes it's a very good book for £30 some very good pictures quite a few that I have not seen before & some good story's also. As regards the lighting rig for the " Magic" tour it did vary in size I saw Queen at Newcastle , Wembley & Knebworth . The stage & lighting rig was smaller at Newcastle , so it had to be a bigger stage & lighting rig at Wembley other wise yo would have needed a telescope if you were at the back to see the band even with the very large screen that just about fitted into Wembley. So when they played Knebworth I think that the stage was even bigger than the one at Wembley , maybe somebody might know the answer to that ? As the great man said "Bigger The Better , In Everything Darling !"

I got the book this week, it was a nice read and lovely seeing some rarer pictures. And I discovered another small link to my home area, Ratty was born in Hereford! Well according to his Visa record.
