I may have come to this conclusion years ago without my knowledge, but here's a question: I was watching the rehearsal videos of the Freddie tribute concert on YouTube and found a video of Hammer To Fall labeled "vocals by Roger". I was wondering if you could help me out. youtu.be/mp8g2JM9nogHowever, it seems to me that the voice belongs to Gary Cherone, who sang this song in the production. Since it is only in rehearsal, there may be some occasions when Roger suddenly sings vocals, but most of the time Gary would be singing. However, this video also includes a recording of A Kind Of Magic, which was not performed in the show, and it seems that the person singing this song and the person singing Hammer To Fall are the same person, based on the singing voice. Since this AKOM sounds like Roger's singing, based on this, HTF sounds like Roger is singing as the description of the video describes ...... might be lost in translation. I would like to know who this Hammer singing voice belongs to and if anyone knows the source of this rehearsal video. I have a hazy memory, but I don't think it was on the DVD I have. Please forgive me if there may be some strange expressions due to the use of a translator.

IMHO, it sounds like Roger in AKOM, but not in HTF. Maybe Gary Cherone or Chris Thompson?
Cheers,

Chris Thompson was supposed to sing A Kind Of Magic before it was scrapped from the setlist and the soundcheck/rehearsal sounds like him. www.theparsonsday.altervista.org/intthompsoneng.html I think Roger _did_ sing Hammer To Fall a couple of times in 2005 when Paul Rodgers had issues with his voice.

I did not know that Chris Thompson had plans to sing AKOM, I was surprised. A collector I know once showed me a rehearsal schedule he had won at auction. I knew there was a plan to play AKOM because it was also listed in the set list for one day during the rehearsal period, but the vocalist at that time was listed as Roger Taylor, so I was surprised. It was also noted that Zucchero would sing Save Me. Nuno Bettencourt mentioned in a later interview that Brian had approached Gary Cherone in the form of asking him to sing Hammer To Fall or One Vision, and I guess there really were a lot of different plans. Thanks for sharing your interesting story.

Just an interesting aside I remember - but in an interview with Gary, he also noted the Hammer To Fall/One Vision choice but also noted that because the band were a bit nervous about Axl's reliability, they asked him to be standing off stage during Bohemian Rhapsody to fill in should Axl miss his cue or not show up at all...

Oh and this is true. This is when they were doing the slow/fast HTF. Brian started off slow on the first verse, Paul came out for Verse 2 and the rest. During Firenze, Pesaro and a few others, Brian just did both the first and second verse and then Rog sang the more hard rocking bridge section.
