I've argued with many people on this, Action This Day is an absolute banger. I don't dislike Action This Day either, except for that irritating sax solo, ugh.

I've argued with many people on this, Action This Day is an absolute banger. unfortunate choice of adjective - banger, when you consider that the song is unpinned by a drum machine. in truth not much evidence of actual banging going on - unless you're referring to the banging at the Hotel Deutsche Eiche bathhouse at that time

I seem to like a lot of songs that generally are considered sub-standard:
Sweet Lady In Only Seven Days Action This Day (so much I made it my username) Machines (love this one, in my top 5 Queen 80's tracks) Gimme The Prize Party Khashoggi's Ship

It's nice to read that *someone* besides myself is actually fond of TCR. I love The Cosmos Rocks as a whole, Cosmos Rockin' still sounds exciting to me and gets me dancing, and I actually listen to it more often than I listen to their 80s albums. Surf's Up was one of the highlights of the Cosmos tour for me and one of the best concert intros they've ever used. I went through a phase last year where I listened to We Believe at least three times every day for, oh, six months or so. I’m not exaggerating: that’s ~550 times in the span of ~180 days. I have reasons for that, but I reacquainted myself with all of The Cosmos Rocks during that period and I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed it. Ridiculous lyrics like having criminal urges to twist and shout and getting the cosmos rockin’ don’t phase me anymore, and I appreciate them as goofy, fun, tongue-in-cheek lyrics instead of trying to relay grand, sweeping messages (mostly: see Warboys and We Believe). I find it to be really a solid album, with moments of inspiration (Time to Shine, Small, We Believe, Some Things That Glitter, and Surf’s Up) among probably some more conventional but still enjoyable songs. The one song that makes the least impression on me is Through the Night, and even that’s still not a bad song at all. And that year (2008) was one of high highs and some of the lowest lows of my life (up to that point, little did I know it could get much worse!!) but the album came out at a pivotal point when the planets seemed to be aligning in my favor, and so I have extremely fond memories tied to this album. I know Brian and Roger probably won’t ever record a Queen+ album with Adam, but I think it’d be interesting to hear what they’d come up with. At the very least I’d love it if they recorded a new version of C-lebrity!

Just listened to the Hot Space album. John's songs really stands out: both Back Chat and Cool Cat are really highlights on this album! IMHO the contribution of the other three are lacking in terms of melody and inspiration: Staying Power, Dancer and Body Language sound really mediocre. Action is not that bad, too. But John is clearly in his element. Sadly Back Chat didn't become a hit. The song sounds very modern and fresh including a killer guitar solo!

All of Hot Space, In Only Seven Days, More Of The Jazz, and Don't Lose Your Head in terms of songs I'm embarassed to admit I like by Queen, but theres a few from other bands.

Only thing out of place here is In Only Seven Days. Everything else makes sense, but that song is beautiful and I've never seen anyone feel negatively to it, just neutral or positive. That said, MOTJ sucks and I'll die on that hill

As I've seen Don't Lose Your Head being mentioned a few times here and I think that is actively the worst "thing" (I don't even dare to call it a song) the band has ever put out I'd like to know what its few fans like about it. It can't be the incredible lyrics, right

It can't be the incredible lyrics, right While it’s not one of my obvious go tos, if it comes up in a playlist I’ll enjoy it for the groove - lyrics are shit but like a lot of Roger’s output there is a beat (unsurprisingly) and a riff that I find compelling. Same with More of that Jazz…

Same with More of that Jazz… I much prefer the instrumental track, A Dozen Red Roses for My Darling, over Don't Lose Your Head as it seems to rock more and is not imperiled by the lyrics However, I do like the lyrical piss-take directed at John ... "Don't Drink and Drive My Car - Don't Get Breathalyzed" ...

I really love Rain Must Fall for it's calypso sound and Gimme The Prize for It's Bagpipe-like solo. And I'm not embarassed to confess it!

It can't be the incredible lyrics, right For me it was Freddie’s strong vocal and Brian’s guitar work throughout that helped change my opinion on it. I still don’t love it, but I don’t leap for the skip button the second it comes on like I used to. Also Rain Must Fall has really gone up a notch or two for me. It’s such a sunny, bubbly tune, and I think that made me realize that not every song has to have deep lyrics for me to enjoy them. Of course that’s just me – everyone’s tastes are different!)
