Another day, another thread by me but today I wanna look at two different shows!
1) July 6th, 1980
The first one took place on July 6th, 1980 in Arizona and this is just a quick correction: On queenlive.ca, it is stated that the show took place in a suburb of Phoenix, called Chandler. This is in fact wrong as the Compton Terrace didn't exist in Chandler until 1985 when it was rebuilt. The old place was located inside an amusement park called "Legend City" right on the border between Phoenix and Tempe, AZ. As seen on several different ticket stubs from the time, it was generally attributed to Tempe, Arizona and thus I think this should be the place all of use should refer to when talking about this Game Tour show.
2) Munich (May 22nd, 1982)
Now let's come to the tougher show, the second night in Munich on the Hot Space Tour. The only reason this show was ever believed to take place was this ticket stub:
Nothing else exists from this show: No attendees who remember this date, no pictures, no recordings, nothing. I always found this strange since any other missing show from this leg at least had pictures or memories / any form of proof for its existence. Then I read a book about Queen in Munich (since I live in Munich, I'm especially interested towards their time here) and I was shocked to find the show on May 21st being mentioned explicitly - as the last show before Leeds! No mention of a second night. Did they just forget about it? But then I took a closer look at the aforementioned ticket stub and noticed something: Block, row and seat number are all empty! THIS is how a ticket from May 21st looked:
You can clearly see block, row and seat number filled in properly as it should be the case. Now without wanting to jump to conclusions, I actually think this supposed second night was either planned and then cancelled or the ticket we have is either a fake or simply a misprint with the wrong date (which is unlikely since it also mentions the day, not just numbers) but whatever the case may be: I now doubt that the band played two nights in Munich in 1982. But what do you think?
