I think this is the only digital version of โson of Star Fleetโ available Star fleetRussian bootleg Weird too that it's got "Son of Star Fleet" on it but not the single edit! Indeed a Russian disguised as Japanese. Still a nice addition to the collection

The "Son of Star Fleet" track is probably just a rip of the 7" single. If it was an official release it might be a worthy addition, but personally, I wouldn't have thought so with it being a bootleg.

My two-disc arrived from Japan today. Only had a chance to listen to the remixes of the three original album tracks so far, but I must say I quite like the new mix of the title track.

Is it just me or is the 2023 mix of Son Of Star Fleet flawed? The drums at around 1:42 minutes seem wrong and a beat or something might be missing. It doesn't flow as well when compared to the original mix.
Apart from that this is a great release. Nice booklet in the box with finally some worthwhile liner notes. Looks like Brian had quite some fun while working on this reissue project. Pity he did not apply this nice touch to the previous two box sets.
Special mention to the Japanese 2cd release which screams quality and looks fantastic. The booklet even features a recent Brian photo which is not inside the box set.

I wish Iโd gone for the Japanese release now. The vinyl sleeve in my boxset wasnโt in the best condition, heard of several issues with pressing plants recently.

The remix of the title track has really brought out all the little vocal fills that were kinda buried in the mix before. Particularly the one that leads into the final โStar Fleet!โ before the instrumental break starts, I donโt think I ever noticed that one until now.

Brian humming the synth melody (and singing โyeahโ) before the final verse was genuinely a pleasant surprise.

I've got used to the new mix now, and whilst I still think it's just a teensy tiny bit overly tarted up (compared to the original), overall it's a better quality listening experience, so in that way, I'm happy. ๐

Is anyone else having trouble ripping the final 2 tracks from the 2nd cd of the boxset? I keep a USB full of music in my car to play while driving (as no newish cars have cd players anymore..!) so I've attempted multiple times to convert these cds to mp3. I can play them both, no problems, but just the final 2 tracks on the 2nd disc just will not rip.
Maybe it's my rather old laptop, but I thought I'd ask here too.

Nope, no issues on my end. Your drive might indeed be an older model which has some difficulties.

How long is the total disc play time?
Iโve got an older laptop and it sometimes struggles towards the end of very long discs.

From memory, it's about 1hr 18 mins. Not excessively long then; my laptop only seems to occasionally struggle when you get up above 1:19. About as long as you can fit on one disc. You say that, but I recently bought the deluxe box set of Tina Turnerโs Foreign Affair and the bonus CD in that was something like 84 minutes, which I didnโt think was even possible. My computer had to have a few goes at that one!

Made in Heaven was 70 mins. ๐ Did you include track 12 in your 70 mins.๐ ALWAYS include track 12, but then I turn off. I mean, really, does ANYONE actually listen to that overlong shite of a 13th track? My excitement the day I put that album in the CD player and saw how long it was only to be massively disappointed. If I've listened to track 13 TWICE I've done well. I still maintain that album should have been called "A Winter's Tale" as it was the "winter" of Queen's career, ie, the end of it. Maybe they thought that would have been a bit too 'clever' for the masses so they went with the obvious pappy, puke inducing "Made In Heaven" instead.

My Made in Germany Star Fleet box set had significant tears on the vinyl sleeve and box. I couldn't believe it was a brand new, sealed product and not something left at a children's daycare for a week. My replacement was much better, but still had a white blemish on the black cover of the booklet.

I went to bed absolutely knackered from a late shift, put my headphones and the CD in my portable player. I started to nod off when listening to what I thought was the last track of It`s A Beautiful Day. I didn`t realise the CD was still playing and heard the Yeah then must have dozed off again. Then there was a what sounded like heavenly music and I thought I was dead! (I was still in a dozed state) Then a loud music sound woke me up, nearly sh*t myself.๐คฃ Don`t think I have played it since.

First time I listened to Track 13, likewise, I was zoning out until a noise or Freddie's voice startled me back to actively listening to it again. I wasn't even sure I'd heard what I'd heard until I rewound the cd back a few seconds to hear it again.
Probably only listened to the whole Track 13 from start to finish maybe 4 or 5 times since I got the cd in early 1996.

Sounds like I am in the minority with regards to Track 13, as I have listened to it a lot of times. Loved to play it LOUD back then. Actually I still like to do that today Love the climax at the end, though Freddie's final "fab" sounds a bit out of place.

I do like that the pre-QAL concert music (as in, the music played in the stadium as background music while people find their seats, ect) is based off Track 13.
Regardless of the time on the clock or the time the show was supposed to start, I always knew when we were 20mins or so away from starting. When the 'Track 13' music started, so did my countdown clock!

It's 2023 and not only do we have a Star Fleet boxset, but the title track is also at number one in the physical charts. Of course this is only due to the CD and 7" formats available from QOL and the record will be out of the charts next week, but still. Who would've thought!

My recollection is that after about 8 minutes of decreasing amounts of anticpatory "whoo"-ing, phrases like " they're not playing all of it, are they???" We're muttered. Then it ended and STILL nobody came on stage. To this day I have no idea what, if anything, the issue was.

I know we're going off-topic (as in, the thread's topic), but your comment reminded me of the 2012 QAL Hammersmith gigs. They were my first-ever live experiences for Queen, in a completely different city and country than I was used to (it was this little Australian's first overseas trip), so it was all new and very, very exciting. I'd waited my whole life to see Queen (in any incarnation) live, and it was apparent most people in there were also on the edge of their seats in anticipation. Pre-show was music being played over the PA. From memory, rockabilly kinda music. QAL were due to start at, I think, 8pm, and as the music track at that time finished, the tension in the crowd increased ...followed by the most audible groan of disappointment of the sold-out venue as another song started. This happened several times more, with levels of excitement ("This HAS to be the last song, surely?!") varying. Some fever-pitch, others less-so. Then one song finished, there was a pause. People held their breath. House lights went out! The crowd went nuts like nothing I'd ever experienced before. It was insane, but I loved it.
