Hi everybody. I would like to share with you an interesting little article from the Italian music press: this is the review of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen, released as a single on the Italian market by EMI Italiana (the Italian subsidiary of EMI Records) on December 11th, 1975; the album 'A Night At The Opera' was released a few months after the UK release, in February 1976. The article was published on the music magazine Ciao 2001 on March 28th, 1976. Below the scan and the English translation. Have a good reading.
Bohemian Rhapsody / I'm In Love With My Car QUEEN (Emi)
This single by the currently most celebrated group in England, as well as the album from which it was taken, «A NIght At The Opera», is destined to enter the history of English musical costume as it is the most evident commercial sign of a professionalism of the muzak (as well as the parallel experiences, but more on average in depth, of 10cc and Supertramp): schematic beat, executive taste and references to the operatic genre are the ingredients here well mixed by Queen, even if the kitsch flavor remains uncontaminated and is indeed deliberately pointed to and cultivated; on the back an ultra-metallic ballad. Consumerism has managed to create another perfect "paper tiger".
