Hi everybody. Today I want to share with all of you some articles taken from the English music newspaper Sounds, published on July 19th, 1986; at the time, Queen were on tour in Europe promoting 'A Kind Of Magic' and just play two gigs at Wembley Stadium in London. The magazine published a reportage on Wembley: first of all, it talked about the aftershow party that the band held at Kensington Roof Gardens in London on July 12th, 1986. This article below, titled Right Royal Rave-Up for Ageing Queen, contains information about the party, some photos and a vignette made by Simon Cooper.
A few pages later, journalist Neil Spencer publishes a review of the show at Wembley Stadium: entitled Magic Moments, the review also talks about the performances of The Alarm and Status Quo, before dedicating himself to Queen. Spencer is very positive about the band and describes key moments from the show, including the acoustic rock and roll medley and Brian May's guitar solo (noting that it has remained unchanged since the 1975 Christmas show at Hammersmith Odeon). In the last pages of the magazine there is also an advertisement for 'A Night Of Summer Magic', the upcoming Queen concert at Knebworth Park in Stevenage for Saturday August 9th, 1986: the "poster", which promotes also the album 'A Kind Of Magic' and Status Quo and Big Country's gigs, is below.
