Highlander remake to use the original Queen songs

So there is no hope that with that project being given green light, QPL will dive deep into the recording sessions of AKOM to prepare new mixes ?

When I read that part of the article, the first thing that came to mind was the possibility of other bands covering the Queen songs that featured in the original movie. If you're going to remake and refresh the movie, why not the soundtrack? One Year Of Love, as we know it, just doesn't belong in a modern big-budget movie. It would also allow them to release a soundtrack album that isn't mostly the A Kind of Magic album.

I think Muse would be a good fit to cover Princes of the Universe.

I actually think One Year of Love could fit with the movie if sung in more of a ballad style. I would have loved to have Freddie do a softer more toned down version. There are some great vocalists out there who could do it justice, although I’m leaning towards a female singer. Keep it simple with a pure voice.
Don’t lose Your Head sounds very dated but I still enjoy it. Maybe a decent remix could bring it up to speed? Just keep William Orbit well away from the project.
I think they could use the soundtrack version of A Kind of Magic and introduce that lesser known version to a new audience.
Princes of The Universe is classic Queen, some awesome writing from Freddie. I don’t think I would like to hear anyone else cover it.
Also, for the record, I’ve always loved Gimme The Prize. I love the raw power in Freddie’s voice.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they do get other musicians to cover some of the soundtrack. I just hope they choose wisely.
Either way, whatever they do it’s great to hear the songs will feature in one way or another

Exactly this Mike ^. Having other artists cover these songs would be a huge mistake resulting in missed revenue for the studio and record company.

Pulling these songs into our current age by reimagining/remixing with, maybe, additional new recordings of orchestra etc could be very interesting.

That’d be great - start the movie at Madison Square Gardens like the original but instead of a wrestling match it’s a Queen concert! But how are they gonna pull that off? CGI? Or have Rami and the boys do a little mini-sequel? lol

It’s a bit corny but highlander holds a special place within me, absolutely love the film and obviously the soundtrack does it a world of good

Me too...and Brian is on fire on that track. It has to be considered one of the heaviest tracks they ever did as well!
