Hello how are you? The headliners for Rock In Rio 2024 are being announced. It is 40 years since Queen's performance in 1985 and the band released Hammer To Fall live that year. What do they say? Will there be any chance of them playing in South America?

They already played in 2015. I’m willing to bet they’re not playing there in 2024.

Hmm. I wouldn’t bet on it. But according to Roger they HAD planned a South American Tour for fall 2020, which they had to cancel, because of the pandemic. I read somewhere, that an appearance at Rock in Rio would have been part of it, although I don’t think it would have fit into the timeframe.
So MAYBE they will revive that plan. Although I don’t know, how the economic situation in South America currently is. Does it make sense for Queen to play there financially? I heard that over the last years a lot of acts omitted South America due to financial reasons.

In Brazil, 2023 is being a great year for International rock concerts. In Brasília, the capital, we never had so many good ones in the past.
As for Rock in Rio, it would be a great booster for an eventual tour. I live in hope. They are currently as big as in the 80s over here.
Cheers,

What you say about South America's financial situation is true, but at the same time it is having great tours and concerts (Taylor Swift for example). People still buy tickets for the shows... In 2020 in an interview Roger said that they wanted to do that tour the following year (in 2021, the year of RIR and the covid situation had not finished improving in 2021 that is why it did not happen) . I think it is likely due to various factors in 2024: 40 years of RIR and the presentation of Queen 1985 The promotion of a possible The Works box set One last time in that part of the world.
