in 1998, Roger said he's "sure that there's a rough version somewhere", his wording Interesting - where's the quote from ? Whatever he's referring to didn't exist under a decade later, as they had to reconstruct the intro of Now I'm Here with film from the beginning of the show.

That was about a studio take of Hangman.

Just bought my tickets to see it... at the Montreal Forum, where the show was filmed and which is now a cinema with an IMAX screen! How cool is that My husband and I just got Queen IMAX tickets at the Montreal Forum theater as well! Pretty excited about that!

I got my tickets as soon as I read about the concert. The IMAX is about 20 minutes away. Great way to start the new year!

Having seen this in cinemas back in '92 and then again in recent years, I think it's fair to say that unless they apply 3D technology to it, I don't think I'll be going to the cinema to watch it again. But what i would like to see is the full frame released on bluray. Black bars on my screen don't bother me in the slightest.

As long as they are at the top and bottom of the screen, and not vertical then you have no problem. Vertical bars are a bit off putting, unless you turn your head around to its side.😂

What I need is a fully captured un-cropped image. Every black-bars problem could be solved with 'zoom' button.

But then, back in the 90's when they were slowly programming the population into accepting widescreen TV shows, I found the black bars top and bottom annoying as heck because, let's face it, unless you were very wealthy, the largest tv most people had was about 24" and they were 4:3 of course and this trend was making the viewing picture smaller. And they're at it again with TV shows being filmed in an even wider aspect ratio, leaving us with black bars top and bottom again. I find that's just wasted space now and some TV producers have realised this and to compensate they're chopping the tops of people's heads off in close ups! Frankly there's no need for it unless they plan to make narrower TV sets and force us all to upgrade again in the near future. But I like old TV shows from the 60's & 70's so I have no choice but to watch them with bars down the side and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Bought myself the Dixon Of Dock Green boxset a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed them. Far superior TV to some of the shite we get now.

Treated myself to a 1960s Batman TV series and enjoyed them a lot. Vertical bars as well. Personally I think modern TV`s have a limited lifespan built into them. Agree about the early TV shows, don`t make them like they used too. Mind you there was some sh##e on as well😀

my "formative" years were an unhealthy diet of Gerry Anderson's shows - favourites being Fireball XL5 and Stingray as well as other from the same period, including: Land of the Giants, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and Lost in Space. I still revisit these shows now and the black borders add a little bit of anachronistic charm that only adds to my nostalgia. Some shows - like another of my faves - Columbo actually transitioned to widescreen late on in the show's lifespan, and these later shows I seldom watch these days - perhaps I should.
My all-time favourite comedy: Cheers although originally broadcast in 4:3 there have been recent issues in widescreen and it somehow manages to retain its vintage charm, perhaps this is down to it originally being recorded on film (rather than video)?

Can`t remember Four Feather Falls, my Mother used to have Bonanza on and that is the one that sticks out for me. Secret Service is now available on ITV X time I revisited it again. We must be around the same age.

So is anyone here going to see this ?
I'm thinking of booking tickets.
There are 2 digital "IMAX" cinemas in my city but we no longer have a proper 70mm IMAX cinema.
The last film I saw on digital "IMAX" was Joker which didn't impression me at all in terms of the "IMAX" screen.
But I have seen 70mm IMAX presentations in the past and I can say that it definitely is worth the extra ticket price.
The difference between 70mm IMAX and a standard cinema screen is like night and day.
With 70mm IMAX it is so immersive you actually feel like you are moving some people can even get motion sickness from looking at the massive screen.

Do we know if any screenings of QRM will be 70mm IMAX, and therefore opened up on the top/bottom to IMAX film’s 1.43:1 aspect ratio?
I’d assumed they’d all be digital IMAX, whose aspect ratio is more like the Blu-ray.
Still cool to see either way, it’s just the above talk got me wondering.

I seriously doubt that they'll do anything other than project the BluRay on to the screen.

Best to compare it with a screenshot from the actual blue-ray? I don't keep up on the intricacies of unofficial remasters, but I feel like the Chief Mouse videos were colour graded... Will delete this post if my memory is wrong, no disrespect intended!

I've just bought two tickets for me and a friend for the Rock Montreal Imax experience, a bit pricey here in Poland but I'll write my review. Thankfully we have the famous 70 mm proper IMAX cinema.

Enjoy!!! Have a great time!!! Unfortunately, there is no showing in a thousand kilometers radius from me, and I live in Brasília, the capital of Brasil. They seem to have chosen only a handful of southeastern and shouthern cities to show it down here. Cheers, Ogre-

I'm going to see it with my dad on January 18th. Curious to see a concert film in a cinema; I've never done that before.

Seemingly there's only 1 cinema in all of Australia showing it ... and that's in friggin' Melbourne. I would (and have done so on many occasions these past 12 years!) only travel by plane to see Queen / Brian-&-Roger-as-Queen perform live if they were actually there performing live in the arena/stadium as I'm in. I wouldn't jump in an expensive plane and travel several hours away from home just to watch a movie that I already have on dvd (twice, I'm pretty sure!). I'd go if it was in my city, but not interstate or overseas!

Well Brian makes it clear that there's a new sound mix at the very least. We wouldn't have known otherwise. Typical Queen - fuck all 'official' promotion declaring WHY folks should go and see it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lc_M7XngY6E
