I'm coming into this thread rather late but I'd like to add a few things
In terms of fandom from my personal experience, the whole thing about Back Chat being about Brian is nothing more than a joke. Like how we all associate Hot Space with Deaky when he did not like it, just because it's disco and we know he likes disco. The amount of memes I see about it that factually aren't correct I cannot count but in all honesty? I laugh, because it's funny. Nothing more or less :-)
As for Misfire, according to early sheets (not sure what they're called, I'm not a technical person: its why I have the pictures saved) it has it dubbed as "banana blues" as well as Brighton Rock being "happy little fuck". I really can't see what else this means if I'm honest. It's a great song and personally I love it, but come on, a cutesy love song? Sure, and Get Down Make Love has no innuendos.
As for Deacon being "less innocent than thought", over my tenure as a Queen fanatic he's stayed rather level in terms of "extremeness and other tidbits". The duality of him can't be measured and I could go on about him being this "uwu he does nothing wrong disco deaky" character one minute and a "laughs when called prolific" person the next but I don't need to. He was a bassist in a rock band, I think that says enough.
Being said, there are some people who coddle him too much. But y’know, I could say the same for litterally any "celebrity" out there, and I use that term with a grain of salt. All it takes nowadays to be in the public eye is one cock up, yet John Richard Deacon sits in privacy with the wider public not knowing his name. (I sound like I hate the man, but I really don't, and I do idolise him, but with that comes the acceptance that no one is perfect and people who think some people are are foolish)

I will say that while the title Banana Blues could very well be more of an innuendo than its final title, it's also likely just an innocent nod to the calypso/Caribbean-style music. For instance, you might know The Banana Boat Song better as Day-Oh (day-oh, day-oh, daylight come and me wan' go home).
